Some people might just not get it...they think that if a few hundred big box stores go solar it will do the job, when in fact these installations aren't even enough to satisfy the store's energy use. It is part of the solution, but its impact is a tiny fraction of the amount of solar power needed to cover our needs.

Our energy consumption is huge, and the only way to counter it is with huge solar power plants in the desert. Compare that to coal or nuclear plants, if you think those are a viable, long term solution.

Re: 700 Megawatt Offshore Wind Farm Plan For Long Island Takes a Step Forward

@Mark Smitt

Have you checked the price of nuclear combustible? You guessed right, from abroad.

The costs of building, operating and decomissioning a nuclear power plant have exploded, and no one in the government considers it as a serious option anymore (for now)

Wind and solar is the way to go. There is not a speck of a doubt about it.

Global warming causes more problems than advantages. Yes it will be easier to grow food in some areas, but on the other side, vast areas of land will become desert. Drought will be increased globally. Considering that 1 out of 3 humans today does not have direct access to water, I let you make the conclusion of what will happen. But maybe that doesn't bother you, maybe you'll be happy in your Florida retirement home. The problem is, not everyone on earth is like us.

So saying CO2 is good, that it only has advantages and that it will make more food grow....that is absurd.

Re: El Segundo's First Annual Environmental Expo

I see lots of plastic bags in the few pictures...environmental expo you said?

Re: New York Times Building's Sunscreen Removed, Emissions Increased, Thanks To Climber "Fighting Carbon Emissions"

It's the Architects' fault.

@Mark Smitt

Have you checked the price of nuclear combustible? Congratulations for trying to solve a problem, take everyone's input, but don't let naysayers discourage you.

Re: White Roofs to Sweep the World, Fight Climate Change

One day we'll look back and say "what were we thinking"?

The human species went to the moon but couldn't figure out that a white roof is beneficial?

Re: White Roofs to Sweep the World, Fight Climate Change

One day we'll look back and say "what were we thinking"?

The human species went to the moon but couldn't figure out that a white roof is beneficial?

Re: EPA Vows to Clean Up Michigan Dow Site

Dow should be held accountable for its crimes and be forced to clean up and pay a hefty fine.

No one shall be allowed to destroy our environment, zero exception.

Re: A Self-Built Solar-Powered, Solar-Heated Home with Solar Car (Video)

A true patriot, I wish more people were that way.

Unfortunately, someone on FoxNews made the nation's redneck population believe the most patriotic act is to drive a F250 gas guzzling POS truck.

Re: Scary Aquatic Pollution Bill Almost Passes in Tennessee and This May Only Be Round 1

Republicans at their best, working for their buddies in the filth-industry, against the health of people and environment.

Re: Rainwater Harvesting Poised To Grow In US West

I get enough water in 15 min of rainfall to water all my plants for 1 whole year in CA.

The way we waste this precious resource is astounding...when it rains we let it rush to the ocean in concrete rivers, and it's drought the rest of the year.
