Oh the painful joys of feeding before the milk comes in - mine both did about 22 hours out of 24, then settled into blissful every 2 -3 hours the next day when I was close to exploding and needed them to feed more. Babies can be so contrary - perhaps it's actually their first foray into toddlerhood ;)

I agree with the article too, especially the "social isolation" aspect. I think if there's an extended family around to babysit, advise, etc, then parents can be spared a large amount of the "negatives" one thinks of in terms of lifestyle change when having kids. On the other hand, aren't they entitled to expect our lives to change somewhat, at least in the early years when they need us so much?
Fortunately as well as not understanding the stresses, we also get blessed with love we could never have comprehended as well which helps to balance things out a lot. Which I'm sure by now you've discovered. As well as the joy of your first meconium filled nappy :)

Hey, you're staying literally just round the corner from my old flat in Bayswater (35 Queensborough Terrace - you should pass it if you walk the back way to Whiteleys shopping centre). Enjoy being across the road from the parks - it's a nice part of London for a traveller.
