Did the flare up only happen after you exposed yourself to the sun? It can cause grave problems to your joints, heart, kidney and others; it's only good to see your doc and do some specialised blood test to confirm or rule out this diagnosis.

Those images have been inserted by someone else. It was black and white set somehwere foreign and flat, and in fact I don't remember there being a word of English apart from the theme tune. To me the song was magical and worth waiting for but the show itself was a blur.
Did it have subtitles like all those Checkoslovakian fairy tales such as The Singing Ringing Tree?

Now THAT was a tearjerker if you were 6, LOL.

Try Asda. Big Asdas with George upstairs have more of a rolling slope than the steps, and the trolleys lock onto it to the can't slide down willy nilly, and they have one of those annoying announcement voices that tells you you are 'reaching the end of the walkway' so its even safe for blind people (and those of us with our eyes shut?) but that's ok cos you just start walking forward when the trolley unlocks.

I mean it would sort the whole stepping off thing and the 'being halfway down' thing, without really really really being an escalator.

Just a thought. :-)

I thought everyone was complaining about the lack of oversight and regulations that drove the market to collapse. The greed in "making money" through high risk and incomprehensible investment schemes. Someone had Madoff tagged long before this year and the SEC would not listen. It seems like someone dropped the ball in making sure everyone played fair and the middle class lost big time. Please don't tell the stock market would be 9000. This all happened prior to this administration and we all agree that the markets and economy will not recover any time in the near future. (I did not like the first Bush bailout of AIG and GM - GM is going down together with taxpayer money)

Steve, I agree. Those opposed to hESC research don't know the field. The FDA approved the first human trial using hESC's to assist people who have spinal cord injuries. Private companies have coaxed the same cells to formulate insulin expressing beta cells for diabetes (Geron Corp and the Univ of Alberta - also, Advanced Cell Techologies). (They have to fine tune the cells to react with blood glucose levels and then tackle the beta cell destruction by T cell issue) . Currently, there has been little financial incentive to take these powerful findings forward to the private market because the lack of funding (why many nonprofits like JDRF are now teaming up with corporations to provide funding to keep research going). hESC research is still in its infancy. Adult stem cells have been around much longer. No single stem cells have been found to solve all medical issues. So, we need research in all stem cell areas. There are not enough adoptive parents to turn all these unused embryos into human life form (maybe octomom can be recruited!) so let the parents of the embryos decide what to do with the unused ones...discard them or donate them to research. Why is discarding embryos ok and using them for research not ok. Why not just ban fertility clinics? That argument would be consistent with those not wanting unused embryos destroyed. There would not be embryos created to be destroyed.

Also, before anyone tries to argue that it is the federal funding aspect of hESC that they don't like and that private funds can still do research, let me also argue that many of us did not support the use of tax dollars overseas where many fully developed humans (civilian men, women and children) were killed in Iraq and Afghanistan - oh, that is just collateral damage - talk about dehumanizing! My tax dollars were used on programs that I am personally opposed to so why should the government do what those opposed to stem cell research want. That group is no more special than us who opposed the war overseas.

We all agree anything that saves energy and reduces pollution is good. However, there are some very important issues that are not being addressed.

Since Wal-Mart is a major marketer of products made in China, they could have a significant impact on what's happening there. If you don’t care about pollution, lack of humanity and what’s happening in Darfur, how about this: The American public is getting royally ripped off. As an employee of an American manufacturer, I boycott all products from China. When you start looking at labels, especially designer labels, Nordstom’s private label, etc., you’ll see product that was once made here that is now made in China and is selling for more than ever, creating a much higher profit for the importer.

So you don’t buy designer labels or shop at Nordstrom. You shop at Wal-Mart because it’s cheap. Have you ever stopped to consider the long term cost of a ‘cheap’ item? Here’s where the average American is getting ripped off buying ‘disposable’ product instead of quality that is much less expensive in the long term. Not to mention the waste.

Until China becomes conscientious about what’s happening in the world, the people at Wal-Mart should stop spending their time with smoke and mirrors and come up with solutions to help the Chinese to manufacture in ways that are cleaner and safer. Wal-Mart could make a real difference.

Does anyone know a real environmentally friendly way to pick up dog poop? I have been using corn-plastic bags because they are biodegradable - but using a food source to pick up my dog's #2's is obviously not the way to go. My local pet shops and natural product stores are stumped.

I agree with Amanda and anyone else who's said that stooping to the same level won't solve the problems... and this happens a lot. I hear about parents who go on myspace and harass the kids who are bullying their child.. etc. Megan Meier's suicide wasn't so long ago...and if we remember.. it was an adult who used myspace to create drama in that situation.

I'm sorry, but myspace is a tool... social network... public forum.. communication medium... which means people have to act in a socially responsible manner the same as we would on the street.

"The greatest weapon in the hands of a fool is a pen"... but these days it's a keyboard. Any tool has the potential for great good or great harm depending upon who's using it.

I'm tired of people who want to blame the internet, YouTube, myspace, etc. for the such things that happen. It's people who drive these actions, and it seems like we just want an easy answer sometimes. There is no easy answer or quick fix.

For every social networking site that's shut down.. several more will appear in it's place. The challenge will be helping children.. and adults.. be responsible enough to use these communication tools as they were intended to be used and not to hurt other people.

Some teens might not be ready to handle that yet, so it's up to the parents to set limits and teach the values. What we see reflected from some of these pages on myspace and other networking sites freaks me out a little.. but as others have said here.. this isn't the first time kids have resorted to violence. The problem goes a lot deeper than the internet.

growing up in hong kong, i'd just go to a clinic downstairs from home just to pop in for a visit when i don't feel well. then all of a sudden when i moved to the u.s., i had to wait for 3 months for an appointment at the doctor's just a quarter of a mile down the road...! hope u get well soon...

I remember the "little things" from many people: a handwritten note, well-timed visit or phone call, just the right questions about my family. In reality, the little things are what matter - day in and day out.

Hi, you don't know me but I have heard about your church and have planted the idea into a number of my friends who live in that area. I am praying that you will stand strong and forge ahead with your church plant. You asked some good and somewhat tough questions in your last post and I will offer my 2 cents worth...you can take it or leave it. :)

You seem to have a focused vision and a mission in place. Now focus on building community ...not numbers or results. If you have 15 members for your church then PTL!!!! Now build the community with those 15 members. Love them! Pour your energies into THEM. And, focus on loving the community around your church plant. Be visible and active in that area. Pamphlets, door knocking, calling people in the area to let them know you are there,....all these things will help and require lots of work. But, most importantly,....Don't worry about the numbers...that is a trap which undermines the faithfulness and the power of God to work in all situations and to be sufficient for your needs and concerns. I might even dare to challenge you that numbers/results can be a prideful thing. Do you have cell groups (small groups, care groups, whatever you want to call it) that are active in your new church? That will certainly grow the community within your new church. I can't stress enough the need to build community within your members before and during this process of reaching out into the community.

Our church plant church is now 16 years old and we are again in the process of starting a new church plant. The core group met (and the new core group will do this again) for 6 months of praying and meeting weekly in "cell groups" to build the unity and love within the core. Then they had a flyer campaign and a cold-calling campaign within the community where the new church plant would go....all bathed with prayer. The focus was outreach not numbers.

All I can say is that if you have been called to this ministry (like I hear you say that you have) then walk in faith and keep your eyes focused on the vision you have been given. Don't be discouraged by the "little" (but huge to you right now) stuff. You are doing the work of the Lord and spreading the seeds...God WILL water and grow the rest.

Sometimes it just takes a Daddy. Nathan sure is a cutie. I am a little envious of his hair, my youngest is almost 27 months and I don't think hers is as thick as his. Oh and looking at the picture I would never guess he wasn't cooperating :)

Great post! I think you're right on the money with this one (pardon the pun).

Asking questions is always the best way to help someone determine what they really want/need/expect and then help you figure out how to best deliver.
