Can you imagine what people will say when places like ping.fm sell? (or just about any site which offers the ability to crosspost any content to another of your social networks/blogs.etc.)

in Why Microsoft will buy Facebook and keep it closed on Scobleizer
Is the answer for everyone to just dump Facebook? Go elsewhere and out in the bright, open web? Like the good old days? (Hmm.. or was that MySpace)

in 2008/05/12/dreamcatcher-iphone-recorder/ on Mashable - The Social Media Guide
This is a great app for iPhone owners. I really do hope that the next version has something like this built-in (it's one of the main reasons I don't own one)
We did some tests with videos from this app on a 'multimedia conversation network' system I am building, and it worked perfectly!
Record video -> Send via email from the iPhone -> It was instantly published on the web and distributed to blip.tv, youtube, twitter, blogs etc. All in one go!
lovely! Come on Apple! I need 3G! ;)
They have a lot to do to catch up with the mobile multimedia functionality of the Nokia N95 :)

Pre-ordering will be a good idea for 'Spore' - which has got to be the most highly anticipated game in years, I'd say :)

good stuff! and about time too! :))
btw: I dont like how friendfeed doesn't pick up the author's name of a post. It's just "posted a blog post..." - tested with a feed containing the author tag. still didn't work.
anyway. great stuff! You were looking a bit young in the old pic! lol
looking forward to showing you what I've been working on - but I'm still sorting code for what I call the 'scobleizer effect' :)) heh - hey! you're a feature!

in Does Video Twitter Make Sense? on Social Times
I can read a newspaper or a book faster than it takes to watch a video, but I still like them all.
Especially when they reference and connect to eachother's medium.

I agree totally. Rather like the fact that I'm not creating 'phreadz' to compete or beat seesmic.
I am simply creating a system which does the things I want - primarily to stay in (asynchronous) contact with my fiancee (on the other side of the planet) and my friends - among other 'social things'
:D
'Web System Symbiosis' is the key imho. :)

in Twitter takes a break, we're awake, and wondering... (Scripting News) on Scripting News
yes. 12 hours does seem a long time doesn't it?
I wonder if it's a big datacenter move? Possibly to Amazon EC3? (As they use S3 for storing our avatars and backgrounds now)
I suppose that rather than risk people 'losing tweets' during the 'flip' to a new system, it might be better/less painful for them and us, to just take it all down during a specific time.
But still. 12 hours does seem rather a long time.

I think we met a while ago in SL. I invented BlogHUD (http://bloghud.com) and am also CTO/LeadDev of Podcast.com (http://podcast.com)

TDavid. It's not in there. Thank you very much for lowering my opinion of you.
I like the content. I find it interesting and sometimes entertaining. Simple as that. We don't get enough of this kind of stuff in the UK. I wish there was more like it. At any quality in any codec. I'm not that anal about stuff I get for free.
If I paid for it, that would be a totally different matter.

Whoa! Keep at it Robert. It's all good stuff, opening declaring itself as sponsored content, unlike some blogs I know ;)
It seems like there are some people here pretty passionate about your content. They're even acting like people who would pay for it. (Well, some are acting like they forget they get it for free)
sheesh. ;)
cheers!

Over at http://podcast.com we're seeing the traffic for podacasts rise steadily along with the amount of podcasts out there.
The problem has been that the places to find them were just not good enough ;)
You're either in to audio of video based media or not. I'm sure if you have a look around, you'll find some content which you might enjoy.
It's pretty narrow minded to write it pff just becuase you can't find what piques your interest, eh? ;)

HI there! Woo!! Another BM!
Love to come to this one year ;)
BTW: Raines Cohen and I set up a similar Twitter group mechanism which I did for Gnomedex.
If you you go and follow the user twitter.com/burners
Then when you want to post that 'group' stream, start your tweets with 'burn'
eg:
burn I'm cycling naked being chased by people with paintbrushes!!
you get the picture :) have fun!!

Good stuff Robert! Thanks for that! Nice to hear from the team what's been going on.
I wonder if they realise that I met my fiancee on Twitter?
We both have a button which says "I fell in love in 140 characters or less..." ;p

in Find the Best Shows for Me on Chris Brogan
Hey Chris,
We have playlists cooking for audio at the moment on podcast.com (accounts opening up VERY soon now) and video playlists on the way.
See the link to my podcast.com homepage.
Playlists will be available in just about any format there is.
Also, the nature of a podcast.com account actually turn the user into a directory curator. (Also of subdomains too)
When I have a few things sorted out at this end, I'll drop you the link so you can set up an account too :)
btw: I'm in Boston/Cambridge until Thursday am. if you want to hook up for a beer/demo ;)

in Preview: Nokia Maps 1.0 Update on The Nokia Blog
Cool!
One thing I'd really like to see it do is store locaiton points while on the move in a single data file, which I can then export/send/upload to a system I could very easily create to plot my journey on Google/Yahoo maps.
I did this with a PocketPC w/ external gps a while ago on geepster.com
It was able to set if the points are captured over time or distance. Very handy.
Hoping to see the ability to add GPS data (optionally) in to the EXIF data of the photos at some stage too.

in We need better statistics… on Scobleizer
I couldn't agree more.
These sites only give a representation of the 'hitshare' for the user sample that is those users with the required tool installed.
It's not too far from how TV stations say how many people are watching their shows. They use incredibly small samples (in the thousands - see in the uk: BARB ) using special boxes in their living rooms, where they are required to tap in which channel they are watching.
Our whole TV scheduling and commissioning efforts are based on these ridiculously low samples.
It's a similar problem with podcasts, where there's going to be less actual listens than downloads.
But then, I bet there's plenty of people who have a TV set on and leave the room. Hmmm.
This is a really interesting discussion for the whole media industry. Whatever the medium and platform.
