in 103Bees. Did Hittail Finally Found Its Match? on Sage Blogger
We're always happy to look at new features, so long as they are consistent with the exactly-what-you-need approach we've taken. Would features like top questions be useful? It's fairly straight forward--look for hits that have who, what, why, when and where in it, that also have a high hit count. I expect you'll be excited by some of the new features we're preparing that have more to do with that "side effect" you mentioned.

Vlad Zablotskyy Mike,

I am not sure how useful top queries would be. It's nice to know them but at the end of the day I am using Hittail because I was able to achieve results.....

Of the top "question queries" were analyzed in the same way as "suggestions" are then yes it could be extremely useful. Who would not want to rank first for a question query?

Look for ward to the new features.

HitTail doesn't advocate targeting the entire long tail. It's rigged so that it only suggests items where there is known traffic. So, if there is a popular term for which HitTail sees you might have potential, it is capable of issuing a suggestion on popular terms as well. It just happens less.

Yep Vlad, you know I'm going to stop by eventually whenever you mention us :)

Your comments about HitTail and Affiliates was a direct inspiration for how we named the TypePad blog where we're collecting quotes and testimonials.

1. You put the new suggestions into the title tag (or headline field) of a new blog post. Make it a sensible headline that fits within the context of your site. It's more effective to add new content in a blogging system than to tweak old content. That's because it's naturally well optimized for search, and the submit will cause a news "ping" to notify Weblogs and blo.gs services that new content exists on the web. This starts the process of your content ultimately winding up in Google default search.

3. You got most of that right. The suggestions have more potential than all other keywords. Technically, the reason this is, is because they're teetering on the edge of performing better for you. Our algorithms know this, but in great part, it's derived from "how many pages in" the search results they dug to find you.

That's KEEN competitive intelligence that most others leave on the table.

And there's more making it work well, such as our "keywords forever" feature, but that's too much to explain here. In fact, it always sounds confusing to explain it. There's a lot of trust involved, and we love Vlad the Affiliate, because he took that leap of faith and has been very generous sharing his experiences and results with the world.

Thanks Vlad!

in 10 Questions To Ask Before Launching Your Blog on Instigator Blog
Once your blog has a bit of content and the search hits start coming in, it's a good time to run HitTail and consider the writing suggestion tool that it issues. This builds your blogging momentum, reduces writer's block, and hopefully starts the snowball effect of natural traffic.

No problem. You got me to thinking about why I promote Digg and Stumble Upon so much, even though HitTail is my thing. So, I went ahead and made a blog post about HitTail Vs. Digg as methods for driving traffic.

Flattery will get you everywhere. Don't worry, the Stumble Upon traffic will gradually diminish. I find it's got a two or three day effect. And it's still worth getting Dugg when you can. As for me, I'm just a person heading up an awesome team who is compulsive about checking for HitTail mentions in Technorati. Thanks again for the mention. We really liked your quote.
