The movie and the manga do have some strong divergences, but that's not the point. Whichever version they're basing it off of, it's far too intense for American audiences who want to see a film starring Will Smith, directed by Spielberg. It's gonna get destroyed.

They're not calling it Yellow as the word Giallo has a whole host of meanings when it comes to Italian thriller movies. It's not "artsy"; do some research before you go shooting your mouth off.
