So Tim,

Have you ever heard of Attitude Investor, or read his blog? This guy has been trading for something like 17 years and still can't afford to do it full-time, even though he'd like to. He sounds sort of like a fruit cake to me. Anyway, it's discouraging to hear that someone who has been at it that long and has no long, sharp metal objects protruding from their frontal lobe can't make a living of trading. What gives? What's this guy's dysfunction? What distinguishes the winners from the losers in this game?

I understand what you're trying to say, Dan, but I don't think that you make a very good point.

There are many blogs written in a professional tone with zero grammatical errors or typos. These are a pleasure to read and will likely encounter some success on the web.

Other blogs are more informal and the language tends to be colloquial and familiar and liberties are often take with grammar and structure to evoke a certain mood.

The mistakes I find on this site and in Tim's posts are glaring and indicate that he cares little for the presentation of his content. It shows a disregard for his readership.

A man who spends so much on suits obviously understands the important of good presentation. How hard is it to write decently? Especially when you expect to profit from your informational products . . .

That's the thing! I do like the blog. Tim is obviously talented at what he does and driven to do it well. If he spent an extra five minutes proofreading his posts people would recognize this more readily and he would be as successful at blogging as he is at trading. It just doesn't match his personality to slack at any aspect of running his business. After months of parsing through sloppy posts, I though maybe I'd speak up and bring some attention to the issue.

Tim,

You are obviously a hard worker, and I respect that. So why not step up and polish off the main channel through which new readers and potential customers encounter your work?

Your suggestion that I buy one of your premium products is evidence that you're aware of the value of good presentation. So you clearly understand my point. And I understand that you're busy and that your blog is a low priority. But you'd sell more DVD's if the people who consume your free content saw you in a better light. You're selling yourself in your blog.

Marketing 101: Content AND delivery.

I know it's poor form to call you out like this, Tim. In retrospect I should have sent you an email. I mean no disrepect. Just think about what I'm saying.

BTW, I'm not talking about style. You put a lot of emotion into your writing, which is great. If you paid attention to the basics - spelling, punctuation, capitalization, not leaving out essential words - you would be even more accessible to your readers.

1. It's a business, not a lunch table.
2. Respect is the cornerstone of social order. We all want it, we all need it. That will never change. It's human nature.
3. Poor grammar does not help your sales. That is the rationalization you use to avoid the hard (for you, apparently) task of proofreading.
4. If people keep telling you over and over that your grammar sucks, maybe you should start listening to them.
5. Everybody proofreads everything. You're being ridiculous.

1. I'm not wasting your time. I'm providing solid advice that you'll probably implement some time in the future when you mellow out.
2. Oh please. Finance isn't above (or beneath, as it were) respect.
3. If you had decent grammar I'm sure nobody would complain. If they did, wouldn't that REALLY be wasting your time?

Seriously, it's not just a few mistakes here and there. The content is actually difficult to read.
