I vote for twittering at Starbucks. Clearly, you will generate more business at Starbucks, but I wouldn't recommend a sign that says Realtor on your laptop, someone might just pour hot coffee on it! :)

Most agents are not using twitter properly in my opinion. They all want to connect with other agents, not with their local community. The emphasis is in the wrong spot. I do think twitter can be used to meet people locally. I have actually met quite a few, but I also live in a very tech focused area- the home of twitter. I agree with Kelley, I don't really use twitter to meet buyers and sellers, but it has opened up a ton of connections for me. I go to a ton of local tweet ups, where I further connect with new twitter fans and develop offline relationships. These connections are a real source of leads, but if you stay in the computer, I don't think you are going to get much out of it. Using twitter or any other social media tactic exclusively is a guaranteed way to go out of business IMHO.

Practice, practice, practice. I used to have to write out everything I wanted to say. After a lot of practice, I have found that it is much easier to do things "on the fly" and I actually really enjoy public speaking. Practicing into your voicemail is a good way to test out how you sound- usually not as bad as you think!

I haven't read Chris Brogran's blog before, I will do so now! I have all the others ones in my feed reader.
If I had to start over, I would have skipped wordpress.com and gone straight for .org. Of course, that is a scary thought for a lot of people who aren't technically savvy or technically adventurous! Excellent suggestions for a new blogger and very nice of you to take the time to take his call.

I still have some family in AZ, but mostly in Scottsdale. My parents sold their home and moved to the beach in California about five years ago. Both my mom and I were agents at Re/Max Anasazi in Tempe. Now you know more about me than you wanted!

I got tagged too! Loved the meme. My daughter had her tonsils removed a year and a half ago and it was terrible. I remember her laying in my lap, completely lifeless (she got dehydrated!). I have heard it is much worse when you are older. The weight loss would be one benefit. Too bad it came back. I think I better go ride my spin bike. Got to keep that waistline!
You could buy beer at the age of 18?? Hmmm. what year did that law change?
