You can ignore them @tweets easily enough if they don't interest you, or block the person if they are annoying, but the point is connecting and conversing, not posting to a small group - BIG CONVERSATION.

Thanks for being the first I've seen to take this stance...

Dave

Re: Bring in da Noise, Bring in da Funk

I agree wholeheartedly.

It's elitist, in my opinion, to block @replies from folks you don't follow back...that means the only way a new connection can be made is if you initiate it, and who knows who you might miss if that happens? I guess that it has worked out for him, but the Mac is not the "people's" computer for the simple reason they can't afford one...

Nothing but well wishes to Steve, and of course, despite it all I'd love to have that Iphone...or maybe a Blackberry Storm...

David

Re: One Uber Twitter Follow List for Creatives & Geeks

dAuthor, IT Director, Web 2.0, CSS, Wordpress & Lolcats

<abbr>David Niall Wilson´s last blog post..Who Do You Follow on Twitter, and Why? Nothing prevents Marines from going home to their own computer and joining us in the conversation.

DNW

Re: Why I Deleted my Facebook Fan Page

I agree. I find that all too often people have called them because it is a legitimate way of avoiding actual productivity. I realize that I push this too hard, and so I try to be positive in every meeting, and to participate constantly. I also doodle, but have to be careful because if they get too elaborate, I attract my neighbor's attention at the table and we both get busted.

David

Re: Seth Godin and Twitter

Twitter, like any other form of writing or communication, is not the same for all of us. Seth's problem isn't with his millions of fans, but with those few who think they can call him out every time he writes something and try to gain notoriety by getting him worked up.

Social media of any sort when the numbers get too high is an exercise in futility. That's why so many celebrity Tweeps only follow a small number while being followed by huge numbers, I suppose.

Those who will misinterpret your 140 characters probably would have misinterpreted your three paragraphs, just at greater length...

David

Re: Building your twitter network

Horror writer, blogger, thinker, IT Director for an Inc 500 Company. Think about it. When web pages (personal pages) first proliferated, the biggest complaint was that everyone put up their "My Cat Fluffy" pages and clogged the bandwidth and search engines.

Now, decades later, not only are they still hogging bandwidth, but they have their own site, an international following, and are almost the only consistently funny "watering hole" on the net. I have literally fallen out of my chair laughing at some of them and...I have contributed. I have made (to date) over 80 lolcats, and will continue to make them because they make others smile, and I like that:

You can view my lolcats at:

DIS PLACE
