Great way to lead your children celebrating Christmas - I'm sure your example will provoke some of us to re-evaluate how we celebrate Christmas with our families.

goodwordediting Thanks, ESI. I've gathered that the most important thing is to talk
about it throughout the season. If we just shop and shop and shop,
then toss out a brief summary of the nativity on Christmas Eve, the
family will know what the season really means to us.

Just catching up on your blog - interesting post. We all battle what the Bible calls the "fear of man" so you're not alone. We just like blending in, don't we?

Marcus

Thanks for your encouraging support for the Gospel Translations Project - I'm very grateful. I'm not anything like Moses, but this is really a work that God seems to be blessing. In the 9 months since our launch, we have approx 280 translators signed up.

I hope what conveys in the video and our website is first and foremost, God's heart for the nations to have access for biblical truth. He loves the nations and I'm grateful that I can play a small part in making that happen. It's a simple idea that God, by His grace, is bringing to fruition.

Thanks!

in I Just Want God to Cut Through the Crap on GoodWordEditing.com
Marcus

Thanks for your honest post. Two things come to mind -

1. I think every christian has experienced something like that at some point...and the honest doubts that creep into our minds. In fact, the apostle Paul said something like this - if for this life only, we have hope in Christ, we are of all men to be pitied. In other words, living for Christ means entrusting all to him in such a way that if we're wrong about it - we're indeed fools.

2. A Holy Spirit hug? Here's God's answer to that - the Church. In his wisdom, God has designated his church to do exactly that - to provide flesh and blood community to dispense hugs, offer encouraging words, share meals, etc... May He give you the hugs you need, when you need them

in Oulipo Style Meme - Christianity Is So Predictable on GoodWordEditing.com
Like LL, I'm inclined to say too many to narrow down...but like Mary, I remember the first time my eyes were opened - I was struck by not so much by the notion that I could know God, but that I was known by Him. Mind blowing.

BTW, Mary, thanks for sharing your story...it was wonderfully encouraging.

Somehow I missed this post a couple of days ago, when I commented on your business travel post. Wow, I'm glad I doubled back to catch the Packer video.

You are not using hyperbole to describe him as one of the greatest theologians in our present generation.

in Good Words Around the Net - Don’t Try To Balance Your Day on GoodWordEditing.com
I'm not much for balancing if balancing is about watching the hours you spend. My sentiments are similar to spaghettiepie's.

Here's my rule for not getting "off balance" -

Guard my heart, not my time.

Time spent at home obviously matters...but what's going on in our heart is much more significant. Are we loving our jobs more than the children God has given to us? Do we value the kingdom of God more than the success in the corporate world? Do we love the Savior more than money?

welcome back, Marcus.

I think Staub is right except I'd extend it to just about any arena of cultural engagement -

we don't need more christian artists, we need great artists who are christians

we don't need more christian politicians, we need great politicians who are christian

we don't need more christian musicians, we need great musicians who are christian

we don't need more christian businessmen, we need great businessmen who are christian

in Espresso Book Machines Won’t Write Good Sentences for You on GoodWordEditing.com
Quality doesn't sell when people don't know about a book or can independently judge the quality of the product - that's why marketing exists.

People don't buy products they don't know about.

So, what's it like to have job security, Marcus?
