Hi Guys,
Ustream is working fine its not necessarily about the service, I want to do something lots more sophisticated than the usual and so that is why I needed a specialist on those three items.
Plus I want to refurb the whole site too.
Thanks though for dropping by, its always nice to see startups remain active in the community!

I think Vijay you are a victim of drinking too much of the Kool-Aid as one of my readers also pointed out to me not too long ago. You may believe Google needs to sell 'something' to their 'PhDs' as you implied but that isn't the case. Google are a business and everyone is getting rich off their stock options, don't think for a second that when they are cruising around with their real-estate agents for $1 Million homes they are worried about the 'mantra' as you refer to optimistically. When lots of money is involved people change whether they have PhDs or not.
Also yes Google is specialised in AI but that is their technology what is their business that goes on top of the technology? They are not selling their software (yes they sell a search box but that is for internal Enterprise use and less than 1% of their revenue) to Yahoo!, MySpace, Lycos, Ask, MS, etc are they?
No they are not so that means they have technology but that isn't their business per say. They are an Agency more than any other business and Adobe complements their technology in a way that helps them provide better Agency related services.
Also Google uses those technologies because it suits them, but that doesn't mean they won't reach out to new technologies as Adobe has many attractive products and patents.
Regarding 'emerging' tech that google 'must have' I am a bit surprised you said Picasa.. They had great technology? Huh? Sorry I think you will need to explain that one to me. I don't disagree that Picasa is a good product but a 'must have' technology...?
All that being said, I like that you drew attention to the AI work being done at Google, it is impressive and the possible applications will affect those outside of Googles walls in many other industrys for decades I would expect.
PS. I am curious have you ever met a PhD? If so did you think they were cool? Did you think they were into cool?

Excellent assessment from the Google perspective. I would agree that Adobe has made themselves the perfect target for Google with their acquisition of Macromedia last year.
Yahoo! wouldn't want them because as you said 'stack' doesn't fit, Apple doesn't want to go there and there is quite a few major apps that overlap, and finally MS would get a nice call from the U.S. Department of Justice if they ever went after Adobe so it definitely leaves Adobe exposed to an out--right purchase by Google.
Maybe later this year or early next once Adobe has their product portfolio sorted and the merger being well behind them at that point.
Good spot and I think you are right on with your speculation.
:)

Hi Nicolas,
Thanks for the comment, its good to see we are on the radar, it seems as MySpace, Bebo, and Facebook grow that bloggers are not getting as much of the R&D; as we used to, but I am not offended, its a natural progression from a group that will eventually be a minority as Web2.0 goes 'late majority'.
I especially hope but didn't mention that you expand on the video 'viewer' participant feature as its only touching the tip of the ice berg from my perspective.
I am glad you guys are getting it done, as clearly you are early early (alpha) stage compared to the others (more beta than alpha) but really putting a great and very competitive service together.
I will be using you but will need more audience interactivity before I make a big commitment on this last suggestion many I have spoken with are of the same mind.
Thanks again for stopping by its always nice to know you are being listened too.
Cheers

in What is happening with the new RSS search engines? Traffic comparison on Roger Kondrat - Online Communicator
yeah it was a surprise for me too, but what I thought was interesting was that Feedster had lots of hype and looking at the graph actual 'traction' in the market, but somehow they have managed to bungle it and now its Ice Rocket who has traction and worse for Feedster the 'initiative'.
For me I think 'initiative' can be a business's most powerful weapon against its competitors e.g. Google.

Hmmm, I never took a look at fotolog in hmmm years?
I will now and thanks for pointing out what they are doing.
Regarding some of the things you mentioned with Zooomr, I will say firstly that clearly they won't show up on Alexa because they have too few users, and that mostly significantly due to some business aspects I can't disclose and also the fact that it uses OpenID.
I have told Kris and published about this long ago that Zooomr must dump OpenID as its primary form of registration.
Once the OpenID is fixed it should be interesting to see how fast they grow their user base. I think it would be more interesting to compare then but even so I would probably just watch growth for the first 12 months.
Mark III will have marketplace according to my understanding from Kris, but I think they are taking a bit of thought about the PR aspects by not just opening it like EuroDisney and no one shows up. That would be embarassing and could hurt the long-term value of the marketplace for all stakeholders.
The feature is in Mark III, its just not enabled. Hopefully they do open the marketplace and its done right as that is what as you said they will be uniquely identified for as that will be their differential feature.
Oh well, I learned much from your comments not least of which is to remember that I should take greater care to make my posts more accurate, which I usually do but this time I just wanted to hype a bit for a friend.
Cheers

Well what I can I say... the cool-aid it is then.
However I do only want to take issue with one thing, whether you appreciate what I am saying or not, I would like you to not speak towards those who comment like you speak towards me.
Please come back and comment often, your point of view is valuable and clearly you know your stuff, that being said remember to respect those who comment on my site or I will take issue with it.
Thanks for coming by..

By the way I passed that little nugget of knowledge onto a young man just a few days ago.
When I run into him again I will refer him to this post and your comment.

Hey Phil
Thanks for dropping in.
What do you think about the RIAA giving back the money they coerced from parents because of their kids online music trading habits? I am torn between an outright refund or allowing the company to claim 'no wrong doing or responsibility' but at the least donate the proceeds to a charity of the parents choice.
For me either way I don't think the RIAA should retain any of those fines they handed out to parents over the last 5 years.
