in The Haunting Myth of American Anorexia on The Cosmic Tap
Hi, Anthony. Judging by the comments on this one, it seems you have again found a topic that is near and dear to some, while making a few others pretty uneasy. Maybe it is that some people just don't know enough about the disease, while others are just scared stupid by the word. There are many eating disorders that you could write about and draw many of these same reactions. Oh course, I joke that size 0 ladies really need to eat a burger--and I'll be the first to admit that its simply a way of coping with my own inability to refuse that big, juicy, fattening plate of joy (ha ha ha)--but I know enough about the disease not to automatically label someone as suffering from it because they are thin. I'd be thinner if I could eat exactly what I should and refrain from eating those things I shouldn't. It doesn't mean that I would be Anorexic if I did start eating the way I should and lost a lot of weight and became thin.
There's simply a lot more to Eating Disorders than many care to know. I could go on and on, making several points that I feel are valid, but what would be the sense? I don't believe my views on the subject will change one person's mind about it. I hope that your writing on the subject has inspired people to learn more about eating disorders. That is truly the first step toward an informed opinion and understanding of the subject. For those who choose to be ignorant they will be looked at as such.
Take care.

Ding Dong! Hello? Anybody home? I've made a few mistakes in my day and blamed the wrong person, but this isn't even close! Wow.
I feel for these poor people and I can't begin to imagine what they are going through with this tragedy, but come on... seriously now... could they really see the coroner's report listing the Cause of Death as "Miscommunication". Okay.

in Santa Sadness | The Cosmic Tap on The Cosmic Tap
Hi!
I would like to point out the fact that not one music teacher that I knew ever read a book to us in music class - if she's so damn smart why didn't she pick up on the fact that they had her teaching the wrong subject for the day and go wild on the less than brilliant secretary that typed up the class syllabus?
I think I would have had a few things to say to this substitute myself. Has someone slapped her yet? Anyone...? I think everyone understands Santa Claus is not some strange fat man in a fuzzy suit that breaks into our houses toting gifts for "good" girls and boys. Why aren't some kids scared to death by this, I wonder. Anyway, in my humble opinion Santa is more of a representation of the spirit of giving, really. I have an 11 year-old that still believes in Santa, and damn it, I will perpetuate the "lie" for as long as I can. I will do this with the hope that someday he will understand "Santa" is something real when he finds out what's going on here.
Yes, and by the way, while stating that someone doesn't come down your chimney may be correct, certainly stating that someone doesn't put presents under the tree is a lie. Hypocrite.
Hey, where did that lump of coal come from...?
