in WHERE WERE YOU WHEN YOU HEARD THE NEWS? on The District Weekly
I was at work and a co-worker sent me an email asking me if I'd heard he was in hospital...by the time I checked he was R.I.P. I must say, the dude went crazy, but I will always remember him for two things: 1) The day after he moonwalked on that Motown 50th show that is ALL every kid at school could talk about and 2) I had a cousin who had cancer and died at the age of 10. Before he did, though, MJ fulfilled his wish and sent him a jacket, glove, autographed picture and all sorts of other stuff. For all the suffering he went through, I still remember how much he beamed the day he received that package, which was shortly before his death.

Nice story. That picture is irritating, though.

First, that picture is really scary! Like a male in drag, actually. Second, I find Kathy Griffin to be extremely irritating! Much like the comedienne she's copping; Margaret Cho, who's been pandering to gays for years and years. Third, despite these negative feelings, I still don't know why somebody would be so angry to slam the writer. She did a fine job. So, in the future you should have something constructive to say, rather then take a cheap shot at somebody that i'm sure you don't even know.

Tacky!
Then, he/she totally tries to save herself with the line: "for anyone who does not wish to participate I would really love to receive an email from you and let me know how you are doing."
They don't really care.

in ELECTION 08: FOREVER CHANGES on The District Weekly
It took me 45 minutest to vote at 7:30 this morning...I've voted at the same place at the same time at least twice and was done in 5 minutes. There were many, many first-time voters who didn't know how to vote. The staff was very kind and gave them a brief tutorial. You can only hope that they will continue to vote in the future.

John_B It took me 5 minutes + 1 postage stamp about 3 weeks ago.

I thought I would feel some sense of loss by not standing in a booth for the first time but based upon all the nonsensical goings-on I'm hearing about at some polling places, I'm really glad I elected to avoid the polling place.

I am now a mail-in voter for life!

I think the only thing more shocking than finding out he was a fake, was not knowing it already.

Nice! Our president needs a cigar, though, if he's going to crack jokes like Milton Berle. I think next time he should go with, "take my wife, please!" ahhhh, only a few months left 'til the next chuckster takes office.

Good stuff! I especially like the "Acres of Quiznos" dig! Some day, hopefully soon, the powers that are ruining the downtown area will either pull their heads out or get peaced! They should take a look at The Pike (the dump not the bar/restaurant), the Nordstrom Rack Mall or the once flourishing with cool places Broadway-Linden area and realize how they're totally screwing the city.

Thank GAWD! The last thing Long Beach needs is a football stadium...could you imagine the gridlock throughout the city on Sundays? It would be like the marathon times 10! Also, I used to go to games at the Coliseum when I was little and L.A. doesn't need a football team...if people really want to go watch a game, a simple drive to San Diego is suggested...it's much safer and the team is probably better than any relocated or expansion team will ever be!

I think this is a good cause, but it needs to be recognized by all the communities it impacts. It'd be nice to see a bunch of different types of people turn out. BTW, the title to this post makes it sound like they're planning on protesting an outlandish Saturday filled with a bunch of nonsense.

I know this is late, but I voted at a convalescent home too! The patients were lined down the hall that you had to walk through to get to the back where you voted just leering at you...it was disturbing on so many levels.
