That "Lake" you refer to is the Sea of Galilee. That's so cool.

Whether you believe Jesus was God's son or not, he still existed and sailed on that lake with his apostles.

Historic ground, regardless.

in Thoughts about being on TV and on CES on Scobleizer
It shows how out of touch these media guys are when that dude Mike Michalowicz said "Web Two-Oh is the Way to go."

Someone needs to tell these guys that "Web Two-Oh" is so 2007.

in Is MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server dead? on Scobleizer
Many start-ups pay for web hosting.

Pretty much all paid web hosting plans come with MySQL or equivalent support.

The only way I can see someone using this, is if they have limited databases with their plan.

(For example, my plan allows up to 10 MySQL databases. If I need more than 10, this service from Amazon would be a great solution.)

in Steal my content, please! on Scobleizer
Agreed. However, I do have a problem when someone takes your art without permission, and makes money off of it. It's different if they change it or re-mix it, but to use an unaltered photograph, and say, sell prints of it without your permission--that's just wrong. And I'm sure Thomas Hawk would agree with me.

After all, we gave Only-Dreemin such a hard time for doing it to Rebekka, we should keep that same attitude for anyone else.

Hey Robert,

Any idea if this thing is going to have Flash?

That would be one thing the iPhone can't (currently) do.

Chris,

Here's a defamatory statement for you: Your software is embedded with spyware!

Now what are you gonna do? I dare you to do something!

Stop being a little pussy and realize that your marketing strategy needs to change.

Hey Robert! We'll miss you this week.

You know what I think you need? A trip to Yosemite. Or anywhere outdoors. Just unplug for a few days. I always find that nature brings me back down to earth.

in Are you a hypermiler? on Scobleizer
Neuromancer said, "How long before a “hypermiling” driver runs over a kid cyclyst or biker becuase he was distracted by cheking his MPG."

My question to you is, How many times have you heard of someone running over a kid cyclist or biker because he was distracted my checking his MPH? The speedometer's there, and pple check that all the time. Never heard of someone having an accident because he was checking his speed.

in Adobe Chief Software Architect has an iPhone, says “ask Apple” about Flash on Scobleizer
Bess Said: "Safari doesn't support everything on AJAX."

That's just not true. The fact of the matter is this: Some AJAX developers don't support (or don't know how to support) Safari.

If all Web Developers used best practices and unobtrusive JavaScript, then AJAX applications would work on ANY browser.

As to Flash, the only thing it's good for, IMO, is video and games. That's it. Any other application of Flash technology on the web is downright ignorant and inaccessible. You want cool animations? AJAX can do it. You want scalable graphics? Use SVG. Dynamic Web Applications? Use SSS (Server Side Scripts).

If only we all had the mentality of Jeremy Keith or Dave Shea. The web would be a much better place.

in Is 2008 finally going to be “year of Linux on the desktop?” on Scobleizer
People need to realize...Ubuntu and other Linux distros are Operating Systems.

iLife and iTunes and all that other stuff is software. Apple integrates it into their operating system because Apple develops that software.

And to those that say that Linux is hard for the mainstream user obviously haven't tried Linux for a while. Pretty much any recent Debian based distro (like the Ubuntu flavors, Dreamlinux, etc.) are very easy to use and migrate to.

My wife, who knows absolutely nothing about computers, XP or Linux, likes using Linux better than XP. She says it's faster.

The Linux operating system is also no where near a copy of Windows. The only things similar on Linux to windows is the Desktop environments. And even then, they're much more similar to Mac's desktop environment.

For those of you that haven't used Linux in a while, don't comment on what you don't know or keep up with.

in Apple, er AT&T, tells corporate types to pound sand on Scobleizer
Just talked to an AT&T rep...He said you have to have the iPhone service added to your account in order for your SIM card to work. And, as you cannot add iPhone service to a corporate account, it will not work.

Of course, that could be a load of Bull. But I'm not paying 500+ to find out.

Why not just get the free crappy AT&T phones, buy some iPhones sans the phone service from the apple store, and swap the SIM cards?

in Jaiku/Twitter/Facebook/Kyte/Plaxo = something happening you should pay attention to on Scobleizer
I have a facebook account, however I rarely use it. Why? Almost everyone I would add is on Myspace (ugh!). And only 2 of my friends have a facebook account.

I've been trying to move them over, but they're all "design handicapped" and think myspace is better because you can customize it with hideous backgrounds and colors, etc.

The only thing I would change about Facebook is their updater. As it stands now, you have to write the sentence with the words {Name} is _________. I'd rather just type in a short message in present, past, or future tense like I do in Twitter.

in CRM for iGoogle demoed on Scobleizer
Eh...that's kindof cool. I guess I'm not all that enthusiastic b/c I personally don't need a CRM.

Now, if someone could integrate Basecamp into iGoogle, that would be cool.

However, I prefer Netvibes over iGoogle. I like the interface a helluva lot better.
