You have to be way off base here. If google offered a way to "pay" to get your website on Google faster the uproar would be so massive it would be shut off the same day.

The short answer is no, you shouldn't. The space is severely croweded and unless you can bring something new to the table you shouldn't even bother.

It seems like Mediatemple has finally gotten its act together as the grid hosting no longer goes down every day, however I am still pretty wary.

"Grid" is the new black of the hosting indsutry with companies all saying they have it but no one truly does. Media Temple made promises they can't keep and now their customers are suffering.

1and1 is one of many oversellers on the market and is by far one of the worst. Most of their support is in the Philippines and can only reformat accounts, do yourself a favor and chose a reliable hosting provider.
