Oh my God, Chel! McCain hasn't tolerated that kind of activity!!! He has been vocal when people have shouted those things. You have been taken in by the media that chooses to bolster all that Obama does and make it appear that McCain is the "bad" guy. I realize that being located in Boston, that's probably all you get to hear. Bit, believe me, there are other opinions out here. It's only been the last two weeks or so that I finally heard what some of Obama's plans were! (& I don't like most of them) If you really think that Obama's gonna give all those tax breaks, you need to look closer at his voting history.

And, by the way, this is NOT a racial race. I am not a racist just because I'm voting against Obama. (there. I said it. I'm not voting FOR McCain. I'm voting AGAINST Obama!!!)

I think Matthew is dead on here. But this problem isn't a recent one... it's been going on for ages. For those of us who do (or have, in my case) toured... how many rooms have you been in that were "designed" for entertainment, but there's not enough outlets on stage... or lighting... or wait staff... or whatever!
Somebody sold somebody else an idea... sales is where it is... every minute of every waking hour an entertainer is trying to make a sale... of him or her self.
It's all they've got. The CD's are mandatory to the musician. Touring or not. Use 'em for promo... Use 'em for door prizes... hell... use 'em for drink coasters if it sells one of 'em!

Like everything else in the media world, we're prepared to believe what we're being told by the media moguls. If US currency is going to hell in a hand basket, then, by golly, it must be so. Katie Freakin' Couric said so!

So... if the new media drive by podcasts host say the CD is all but gone... then some day, it will be. Because we're gonna believe 'em! I think that digital downloads have their place in the new music media. They are as valuable as the CD itself these days. After all... You want somebody to hear what you do... go the my MYSPACE page and listen to a few songs... but you have to buy them if you want to listen away from your computer. (or Iphone technical thingy)

Matt, Angie and Lynette are right. Everybody that has favorite bands or artists are gonna HAVE to have that CD... and if it's autographed: Even Better! But... musicians better get together on this and support each other. Write Leo, CC, Ariel, Adam Lewis, Kevin Greenstein and Matthew Wilkening... send them emails and let them know that they are wrong about this. They don't know unless they're told otherwise because Katie told them so!

I would have to say that you have a good grasp on this issue. I'm glad I don't
deal with it anymore... It was easier "in my day"... but it was turning even as I was getting out... I ended up producing the last 3 albums on my own, and even though I felt the work was better than the previous, sales did not start to approach what it was with "the label" & management... but... here's the good news. We made more money in the long run. Sales were lower but profits were higher... and lets face it, that's what we're talking about here. You, yourself, as the company or your band as the company.

It's getting harder and harder for a musician to make a buck out there. I'm sorry I wasn't able to plan on being at your Northern Kentucky stop... but, previous plans. Hopefully we can try again in the fall and get a few things going between Dayton & Cincy for you.

Go toward the light and find the Blackberry. Not the "Pearl" but the "world edition". You'll appreciate the upgrade on the keyboard as well as the upgrade on functionality. Mine, through Verizon, was $399.00 but after discounts and BS, ended up at $99.00 Cheaper, a nd I believe, better than the Iphone with all its limitations. (OK-So I probably am going to get an ITouch to replace my Nano before going to Europe next month-but it ain't the same!) Good luck! Choose wisely. ;-)

I agree, Matthew. It seems that Stupid is running rampant everywhere! Maybe it's the election making everyone nuts. All I know is these little online companies are full of these idiots... "I don't know how to delete your address without taking a lot of my time"? Get the hell outta here!

For repeat offenders I have been setting them as spam on my gmail filter. Yeah, I know... it's not the real answer... but I don't have to look at their crap ever again. And let's face it. that's what it's all about. (Me! ;-)

The idea of belittling you to try to convince you that they're good for you... That's freakin' lunacy. Maybe he's thinking he can drag his company into the crapper and the government will bail him out... excuse me... rescue him.

Good luck with these idiots. They seem to be on the rise.
