Sorry, but I don't buy it. This is totally revamped Galaxy squad. It was their first preseason match. Many of the players on the pitch the other night will only see action in the reserves this season. When you watch NFL teams play their first preseason match, how much do you put on that contest being a true gage of how the season will go? Let's give the team a few weeks to figure things out before we write them off.

The only reason they have the game on PPV is cuz they can make a few extra bucks. They know there's hundreds (thousands?) of people willing to fork out the money. If it were on FSC or Setanta, I'd watch it. I already pay enough to get those channels. As it's on PPV, I'll check the result at 5.

I'm gonna disagree with your assessment of LA. I don't think they need a lot of rebuilding. I think that they are a lot better than this season showed--yeah, I'm bias there. However, the run they had at the end of the season was a result of the fact that the team was finally settling after such a hectic start of the season with all the player movement.


My gut feeling is that we'll have a German coach next.

Five clubs on the top sites list...and one is a League One club who've had some difficult times lately. Guess they'll be doing a Man City.

the only problem with your numbers is that mls doesn't play a balanced schedule. i did a spreadsheet a year or so ago (wish i could remember what i did with it) that had games against the other conference counting double--each teams plays their own conference 4x and the other conference 2x--and the results were even more different.

Drew Carey more interested in the match than answering the stupid reporters questions was classic.

It wouldn't be the first time this year that the British media printed something about the sport in this country without checking the facts. ;)

C'mon Gaff, how can you overlook Big Sam's return to the Reebok opening day? That's by far the most interesting match.

Reminds me a lot of the online coverage of the Amreicas Cup. I can think of other sports (Tour de France?) which could use that type of technology as well.

Wow...and here I was bummed that I was busy then and didn't get to really check anything out until after ko and then missed the end of the match. Now it seems I was fortunate.

I can't remember the year (2000 or 2001) but I was back in England for the Holidays and my boys were at the Cottage for the Boxing Day match. I had tickets in the old open terrace stand at the end with the Cottage (don't remember the name of it) I remember thinking at the time that it'll probably be the last time I see a match at this level from terraces. So far, I was right. Too bad the match wasn't great (0-0 draw if I remember correctly)

It's going up to $15/month. Still worth it though I wish they'd sell some more ads and not milk us DTV viewers so much.
