I'm still following your posts, ever since I heard you on NPR. Glad you are still sharing your asks, and I like the next level you are taking it. Developing a new career field, Asker for Hire, sounds like a possibility. (I am one who was raised Not to ask, to put up and shut up, but I am learning.) BTW, have you read the book "Outliers"?

I was angry at God too when he didn't answer me. I was told that when I was obedient, God would have favor.
I now see that I didn't recognize the lessons God was sending my way because I was too busy whining and being ungreatful.

I can understand how people rebel against their pastors. I can understand how people misunderstand the Old Testament (Historical, but its not the NEW Covenant).

But no matter how angry I got at how people manipulate and try to instill constant guilt/shame -- I always new the "REAL" Jesus was out there.
The true Jesus came to yell and stop all the crap that many people talk about in this site. He was a rebel against the establishment.
Just read his words, and you will understand the context within the entire bible. He questioned and changed many ideas that the Old Testament presented.

Jesus was different then, and still remains different among all the ugliness that organized relgion still spews out.

I stumbled on this site by accident and I am deeply saddened by what I read here. Why are you atheist so angry and vindictive against something of which you have no knowledge or understanding ? You lie, I presume, out of ignorance, because you simply don't know the truth. But why do you feel a need to attack Christians and Christianity? I am a Christian and I certainly have no need to attack you. I don't believe in God because the Bible says He exist; I believe in God because I have experienced His power in my changed life, and witnessed His power in many, many other people's changed lives. You may deny that God is, but God loves you just as much as He loves me.
You show pictures of what you call children and non-children. Shame on you for calling these precious children non-children simply because they are suffering. YOU are the one who has designated them non-children, something a Christian would never do. Are you truly so ignorant of reality, that you think there is really a difference in Chriatians and non-Christians when it comes to poverty and suffering? Apparently you are unaware that the very pictures you showed could be of the millions of Christians in southern Sudan, who are starving and homeless because they have been slaughtered and driven from their homes by the militant Muslims in northern Sudan. And maybe you are unaware that the only help they have received - food, water, clothing, shelter is from Christian organizations! Where are the atheist organizations, or are there any atheist humanitarian relief organizations? I've never heard of any.
Some of your photos of non-children appeared to be victims of violence - in particular war. It is tragic, but the innocent always suffer in war. And war stems from a lot of different reasons, but one characteristic is always present - HATE. The hating of another person, race, society, nationality, or religion simply because they are different from you, and therefore, in your eyes, lesser than you - because you don't know or understand them is responsible for the greatest part of the suffering in the world today - that and greed.
And this suffering affects Christians and non-Christians - and even atheist alike. Your entire essay on what YOU have labeled children and non-children (apparently in the eyes of Christians) is a rediculous myth based on ignorance, arrogance and hate. If you really want a site where people can seriously discuss real issues, the first rule should be that one tell the truth based on knowledge and research, and not just blow smoke. It just waste space and the readers time.

Dear Ian, sorry you're in so much pain and turmoil, but that is what life is all about, questioning, seeking and finding. It's a great adventure! Now, think. What if you saw a dog getting ready to wander into the path of a speeding car. You'd cry out to warn it or scare it away from what you see as certain disaster and probably death. So have a little compassion when people like Billy Graham cry out to warn you from what they sincerely believe will lead you to disaster and death.

There's one more step that these instructions are missing. After you've done what the initial post said with the drop shadows, right click somewhere on an empty part of the desktop. Click on "Arrange Icons By" and turn "Lock Web Items on Desktop" off. If you leave them items locked, the background stays there.

Wait...I don't understand. You live in a dry county? I thought those only existed in Puritanical Massachusetts, where I once paid lots of taxes. I honestly don't know what I would do. I have a standing weekly date with my local liquor store (45 seconds down the street) which includes two bottles of wine, a twelve-pack of Bass Ale and many niceties exchanged primarily consisting of the weather, the price of gas, and how I go in there every Friday night at 7:30 (which I'm always told is better than the folks who go in every night at 7:30, instead of once a week). Damn. It certainly makes me appreciate the little things which I will no longer take for granted. Donna, can I ship wine to you regularly?Or if you want, I can ship a bottle of Jagermeister to your husband. :)

I had to buy cough syrup for the kids at Target a month or so ago, and got the same strip search treatment. My main concern is, If anyone chose to track such things, a person who knows I have children now has my name, address, dob and license number, and punched some of this info into the system. Is this really a measure that will deter people from making crystal meth at home? Somehow, I feel they'll find a way around it. Okay, as long as we're in this realm, I'm going to put in my two cents' worth. First, you can ask for a different pre-natal, b/c some affect people differently than others. DON'T do ex-lax--it's totally horrifying. Eat lots of high-fiber foods that help; apples, stuff like that. Then, if you need it, (are you ready for this) pick up a pack of generic, drug-store brand stool softeners. I hate talking about this stuff, but it really does make a difference, so I thought you should know. After I had Nattie I was anemic (among many other things) and I had to take straight iron supplements every day for weeks. The doc sent John to CVS w/ a note that said, "Iron Supplements, Stool Softeners" with a little smiley face. Life just gets more and more romantic with each day. It does help though, and it's really gentle. Remember the scene in American Pie when Stifler puts laxative in Finch's coffee? You don't even want that kind of pain.So there you go. :)

I just read about these in the paper this morning and logged on to tell you about it. www.stickypaws.com --it's the same principal as above, but instead of putting sticky tape on the cat, they're sticky strips you put on the furniture. It's just an expansion of an idea we heard about when our boy was born--we didn't want the cats in his crib, so before he was born we put tape sticky-side up on the mattress to dissuade the cats from snuggling in there.I think you can also buy them @ petco.hope it helps!perhaps I should follow my own advice and try to salvage our kitchen trim--it's shredded and makes john want to shred the cat every time he sees it.

I wish I had some stuff left--i'd send it to you in a minute. I consigned it all last year in a massive re-org of our closets.Friends of mine and I have always talked about starting some kind of "community maternity closet" among friends. Basically it would mean passing all of your maternity onto whomever in your group is pregnant--it would have saved all of us a ton in maternity shopping, and especially nice if your friends have good taste. Consignment's a great idea too--if you find a really good, picky store, the selection should be great, not stained, ripped, etc. I vote for that. No reason to pay full price at this point--much nicer to save it for the baby, and also your post-pregnancy pampering (A massage, a facial, manicure etc.)Also, speaking of boobs, has anyone mentioned this website to you? make sure you're hydrated, too. I had a lot of BH contractions that landed me in the hospital twice, and both times they said I wasn't drinking enough water. John was so pissed. And I was so sick of the taste of water by that point--when you have to drink that much of it, it really develops a taste.I don't think you're going to make it to 40 weeks either. :)

I had a few nursing home visits when I was sick post-Sassy's birth, we were in the middle of remodeling our kitchen, and there was nothing in it but hardwood floors, literally nothing. She said, "I'm supposed to write down whether you have adequate washing facilities, but since it looks like you usually do and this is a temporary situation, I'll check off yes. Trust me, I've seen worse." My sister said, "Well, where do you wash the dishes?"My response: "In the bathroom, like the best people do." My boyfriend buys the iTunes card for himself because since he doesn't own a credit card, he can use cash to purchase his music.

I know in the end the card just gets thrown out, but I consider this more environmentally friendly than buying physical copies of the music, especially considering some individuals may only want to listen to selected songs on a particular album.

Try to keep in mind that she is young and is emotionally overwhelmed right now. She never intended to hurt those babies. She posted her account of the story before meeting her public defender, so she obviously didn't know she was hurting herself by talking. We have all drank underage, we have just been fortunate enough to not have such horrible things happen as a result of it. Try not to judge.

Anyone who thinks highly of Durkin obviously does not know him very well. He is tied in with the Stephens crew from Rosemont. The Illinois Republican party needs LESS people like Durkin, not more. Ever talked to Durkin one-on-one? He is a meathead, and is one of the least productive members of the Illinois General Assembly. He would have no chance to be elected State's Attorney of Crook County or Illinois Attorney General.

In fact, I find it sad that my Cook County Commissioner Liz Gorman is trying to recruit candidates to run against Tony Peraica instead of finding candidates to run for any of the vacant slots on the ballot. Does this mean that she beleives that beating Peraica is a bigger priority than beating Dan Lipinski or Eugene Moore? Liz Gorman is not a Republican. She proved that to me when she voted for Todd Stroger's budget last February. I hate to admit that I supported Liz Gorman in the primary in 2002 and in both general elections since. I will not be making the same mistake in the future. I refuse to vote for a Republican who has more in common with Todd Stroger and Bill Beavers than members of the Republican Party.

Seems to me, the only ones making an issue of race lately were the ones always accusing others of being racist. Oh well. I saw this Historical in another persepective, and wrote about it. Hi Brittany - had to leave a quick comment for you. Danette (www.HAFENZOO.blogspot.com) is my sister and got me hooked on your blog a while ago. I'm mainly just a silent blog stalker but I wanted to let you know that I'm a registered nurse and you most likely don't have to pump and dump if you want to do the CT scan with contrast. I don't know the exact details of what you need to be done but I would highly reccomend calling the La Leche League and asking them. I know the lady I used to see here in Vegas has all the up to date info on drugs and their interactions with breastfeeding. I've reffered a lot of women to call her. And there really is only a few few things you have to pump and dump for. Most people don't really know if things are safe or not with breastfeeding so they just tell you to dump (so wrong!!). But I know it's like liquid gold so don't do it if you don't have too!! Let me know if you need the contact information! I really think you can do it without any problems and I know the lactation lady I know would be happy to look anything up for you (contrast, pain meds, antibiotics, anything!). Hope you heal fast!

I have some serious Matt resentment right now. Not that I object about the show - haven't seen it. But HOW does he keep in touch with all the Stinters, be a dad, and a husband, and an RD and WSN A Team guy and write stories (that get published) and keep a blog, and read books and LEARN STINKIN HEBREW, for heaven's sake...and watch TV? I know!...he is really a super hero who does things at super speed when no one's looking...or he's an alien. Which do you think, BHRists?

The sad thing is that they will have clear memories of ACTUALLY getting a brocoli-filled pinata and will tell their therapist about it. They will be convinced that you never, ever gave them toys and candy on their birthday, just broccoli - or maybe other things they didn't like. That's the sad thing.

Re the feminine variety: I have always been parital to the wicked witch laugh myself. I agree with glo that to be an effective evil crone, you need that high-pitched cackle. But even more essential is the evil eye, which I myself learned from watching Carol Burnett shows. The right eye opens wide, and the left squints Although that is more of an evil/crazed effect. It helps to have been a mom for 24 years - lots of practice.

We used to play "lets think of how this song would sound if Worf were singing it as a Klingon Battle song on the night before a good day to die." And that was with my kids. Talk about bad. But then again, it was during our re-entry cycle.
Here's what I did at church today: I read "Mattie Goes to the Doctor" and wiped Greyson's nose and changed Joey's pants (she forgot that she is a big girl now.)
