Hi Martin
I've started a new blog aggregator, MetaReligion, and thought that QuakerQuaker contributors might be interested in participating. http://religionrap.blogspot.com/

in Vegetarianism on In Pursuit of Mysteries
Wow, good luck with the vegetarian diet, Al. I have tried being veggie a few times in the past, but failed miserably. I do eat free-range and organic meat, and generally less of it, though. I agree with James that the bottom line is, "Could you slaughter your own food?" but I disagree that having a pet has any bearing (my cats are not vegetarian).
I generally find that there are hardly any preachy vegetarians or vegans, but lots of very defensive meat eaters (hmm, what does that tell us?)
Meanwhile, the Buddha has a Zen koan for you:

in A Pagan Buddhist? on In Pursuit of Mysteries
I'm glad you can be both :)
There are plenty of non-theist Pagans around.
The only potential conflict that I can see between Buddhism and Paganism is that many Pagans want to keep getting reincarnated because we like it here on Mother Earth, whereas the aim of most Buddhists seems to be to cease reincarnating.

Interesting. It sounds excellent. Shades of Herman Hesse's The Glass Bead Game.
I've been reading Neal Stephenson too: Snow Crash

Well, it doesn't mention Paganism, but I agree that the wording implies that we're not welcome. And anyway, I really really don't want to join any organisation headed up by Tony Blair.

... and as evidenced by the Questions of King Milinda, surely there was a Buddhist influence on the Greeks, too?

in Last part of T. Thorn Coyle Interview is Up on In Pursuit of Mysteries
Hi Al, would it be possible to post a single blog-post with links to all three interviews? That way I can easily post it to del.icio.us and MetaPagan.

Yeah I guess as you're getting serious with Buddhism, it would be ungentlemanly to talk about her. She's a very nice lady, I can understand the attraction :)

in A Little Buddhist Reading… on In Pursuit of Mysteries
Hi Al, thanks for your comment on my LJ, but I had to delete that post because it was a duplicate (I didn't want to to think I had deliberately deleted your comment). I am studying Buddhism for my MA at the moment, and am realising that it doesn't have the spirit/matter divide found in the West, so now it is making more sense to me. I am so interfaith (whilst still utterly rooted in a Pagan love of the Earth) that I don't know where I'm headed. Anyway, I'm deeply grateful to Buddhism for the ideas of dependent arising and non-theism, which solved my dilemma.
