Reading the Developers site it would seem Developers don't have time to attend f8 this year because they're too busy waiting for Facebook to make up their mind about the new profiles. Some developers are so frustrated with Facebook that they aren't even willing to dedicate people to work on converting the current applications to the new profiles because Facebook keeps putting off releasing the new profiles.
Facebook has far too many changes on the go and they can't make up their minds as to what they really want. Facebook needs to focus their attention on one project and see it through to completion. Users are getting anxious and developers are getting frustrated.
I've checked out the developer preview and half the options don't work. The Application pulldown listing of all apps only refreshes the screen and same with the Inbox, the plus tab to find more applications doesn't do anything and clicking on any of the applications you do have takes you to the normal site. Some applications show you a note that says there is nothing in the application.
