what phone is can fetch $400 on ebay? anyways, i don't doubt that people will buy one, i just don't understand why someone would. no amount of slick usability makes that kind of risk worth it (for me), but then again, money is why i'm never an early adopter.

i still don't see how anyone can justify carrying $600 [cash] in their pocket at all times...

i think you're right that most people won't buy itunes plus for the lack of drm. i think you're wrong that that means most people won't buy it: it's twice the bitrate! most people will buy it for the higher quality, same reason people buy those fancy bose speakers for their ipods.

the travolta stuff was what i was talking about in that they had to show a change and instead of anakin skywalkering it, they did it in an intentionally cheesy way. it's almost like they assumed they wouldn't be able to realistically pull it off, so they went super cheesy with it. it definitely could've been edited down. i'm actually surprised there isn't a financial motivation to cut down these flicks to the bare minimum. friday was completely sold out and i assume saturday was as well. right now 16 is doing 19 shows daily. assuming it takes a half hour to turn the theater around, if they cut down the movie from 2.5 hours to 2, they could almost squeeze in four more shows daily and really boost their opening weekend box office.

or you can just get it from the mexican restaurant near toys 'r' us.

yeah, not to imply anything good about vista, because i will probably go all mac to avoid vista, but i haven't seen a blue screen since win2k.

as far as your question about just the possibility, i'm no lawyer, but it's my understanding that the law currently says that if there is a potential of personal information being exposed (even without evidence that someone took it), the person/company holding that information must immediately report the exposure to the user. even if they believe no one got in.
