in Donovan to Bayern: The Right Move on Major League Soccer Talk
He just needs to take the international move with a heaping spoonful of humility. He will not be the star at a big club like Bayern. Heck, he'll be lucky to get much playing time. Of course he knows this. It's all a matter of what he wants to get out of his international stint. Is it to improve as a player? To be a star? Money? Whatever it is, I wish the best for him, but, from the spectator's point of view, it doesn't look like a good fit for him at BM.

in MLS TV Ratings Worrying on Major League Soccer Talk
speaking as someone who just now started to watch MLS:
1. the only way I can explain my new found obsession with the MLS is because we, Seattle, FINALLY got our own team in the top league. Without it, MLS is still nothing to me. Sad, simple truth.
2. Totally agree with Cavans first comment as well. The one thing that I personally feel that American sports gets right is the salary cap. It's the one thing I hate about other leagues. Sure, it sucks that MLS's cap is unfortunately low. But it preserves the hope that your team will always have a chance.
3. Does anyone else find it sad that soccer fans are constantly pouting that our game isn't as good as that overseas? What's with the inferiority complex? Soccer is the beautiful game because, no matter if its a pick-up game or an EPL match, its fun to play and watch. I just hope someday we don't have to compare ourselves to the rest of the world, because really, it's sad to think that someone receives less joy from soccer just because they know they aren't the best. These people haven't come to love soccer for what it is. They just love being associated with world-class winners just so they can look down on everyone else.

in Sentimental Favorite St Louis Launches MLS Bid on Major League Soccer Talk
Miami in for sure (not sure how I feel about it, but i'm optimistic)
I can't really see another american team getting a bid this time, no matter how people feel about it. Montreal and Vancouver have too much upside, with Montreal beating them out for the second bid because of their proximity Toronto and being better equipped than Vancouver. Too bad if that happens though. Being a Seattle fan, I don't want to see Vancouver and Portland both get snubbed. But such is life.

in Ljungberg to Seattle an Embarrassing Move on Major League Soccer Talk
I think a point that needs to be brought up is the fact that it is a two year deal (if i'm not mistaken) We are by no means expecting to be champs in two years because of Ljungberg, but rather building by bringing experience in to aid the new talent (Le Toux, Nyassi and others to be named.) Keller and Ljungberg have a wealth of knowledge to provide this team before they retire.

in http://www.majorleaguesoccertalk.com/493/493 on Major League Soccer Talk
I've been a chelsea fan for a few years now (2% gloryhunter, 98% because they came to Seattle to play Celtic and were awesome.) I realized I was becoming a "eurosnob" when I realized I couldn't go to a college party without finding myself in long conversations about EPL with two other random snobs wearing "Big Four" jerseys while everyone else was, well, partying.
However, i've been a fan of USL Seattle Sounders since I was little. Granted, I only made it to one or two games a year. With the recent announcement of Seattle being MLS's new expansion team, I decided I would follow the MLS this season. I was incredibly surprised at caught up in the action I got, and now i'm hooked. But I never would have thought about it unless I knew a team was coming to my town.
the Sounders have sold over 17,000 season tickets so far, and we hope to keep that going. I honestly think that the only way to convert fans is to give them a team they can REALLY call their own, rather than follow blindly from across the ocean.
