KnightKnetwork Yeah I was researching that, Disqus is an awesome commenting system but
something with this theme is throwing it. I'll get it working - thanks for
letting me know you saw it.

Personally, I like the WWPA although I rarely use it nowadays. Occasionally, I come across a player's profile and get a message saying the player was greylisted (via my greasemonkey script), so I head over to the greylist page and see if the game is available and take a look at it before entering a game with that person. If the game is not available, and they are preferred by players who I prefer, then I'll go for a game with them, although I'll keep in mind that they were greylisted at some point for whatever reason. It's a nice precaution and I think it helps with players who like to play quick 5-min or 10-min time limit rated games (not me, although I do play that quickly sometimes) and don't want to get booted for having to run an errand, take a dump, have family to take care of, or the game runs for hours into the night longer than expected and there's work/school in the morning. I usually play with people I know and sometimes venture out of that circle, and when I do, it's nice to know that at some point a player I'm thinking of playing with once made a secret alliance or boot without warning or care about others' needs, even though doing any of that is not against the official rules. For certification - I almost never look at that.

Pistos, who runs the WWPA, as far as I know, has begun saving all of the evidence games for greylisted players, per my suggestion. I think you should interview him, since he runs the thing and occasionally brings out some new cool stuff for member use, like the messaging system, external map saver, and a formerly working AI and sweet game replayer.

And yes there is a way to redeem yourself off of the greylist. I think you have to join the WWPA and raise your certification level above a certain level, i.e. have another WWPA member certify you as a player who plays within WWPA standards. Hopefully, with saved evidence games from now on, disputes will rarely arise concerning one being greylisted, and so the greylist will be a more reliable source for seeing the unsportsmanlike actions of players. (Pistos - if you're reading this, after you've saved an evidence game, please host it so everyone can see it after the game has been removed from Weewar's servers.)

KnightKnetwork Thanks Spadequack, I will try to talk to Pistos. I'm glad to hear that you can earn your way off the greylist but I'm not sure I like the process. This encourages greylisted players to be a part of the WWPA (and some proudly list that they are on their profiles). Then you have to rely on people certifying the greylisted member, a process very few people seem to do anymore. It sounds like the WWPA may still have a role in WeeWar, but I'm still not entirely convinced.
