After you insert the code, load the page in Safari, add the icon to your home screen, then fire it from there. When I use the N95 Sports Tracker, it uploads directly from my phone (before I even come back into the house). Then I can simply pull up their website and view the track in Google Earth/Maps.

Re: Would Someone Please Explain This To Me?

Jack is correct. For the sake of simplicity, let's look at it as a 3x3 (9 possibilities) instead of a 5x5 (25 possibilities). It could easily be a 256 number puzzle, if you had 16 colors and 16 houses.

The choices:
Red: R1, R2, R3
Blue: B1, B2, B3
Yellow: Y1, Y2, Y3

Say we pick "B2" as our color, so we click blue. The system now knows that it's either B1, B2 or B3.

The groups now get split among the houses:

House 1: R1, B1, Y1
House 2: R2, B2, Y2
House 3: R3, B3, Y3

In our case, we choose house 2. Now the system knows that it's either R2, B2 ,or Y2.

The only one that came up in both clicks -- B2!

The other random clicks and doors and stuff are just for show. The bottom line:

- Your first click cuts the choices from 25 down to 5.
- The second click makes sure that the five remaining choices are in separate houses, so it'll know for sure which number is yours.

I hope that made sense.

Mickey's last blog post..Lots of cool buzzwords, but a non-clickable RSS icon?

Re: Blogger Investment Advice

I've seen that before, and I like it. However, I can't get past the $214 at the bottom. You'll get maybe 2000 cans/bottles of beer for $1000, depending on your tastes. Even with the $0.10 deposit in Michigan, that's only $200. And if you get the beer there, you won't get as much because you've got to pay that deposit up front.

For us down here in Georgia, we won't get squat for those cans. Still, fun little post.

Re: Getting More Twitter Followers

Another new technique that is popping up is to find people that auto-follow back and focus on them to start. Since you'll get (ideally) a 1-to-1 ratio in return, it's a great way to get started.

Social News Watch put out a list:
http://socialnewswatch.com/top-twitter-users/

That's since been turned into a few Twitter accounts to make it easier to follow those users:
http://twitter.com/autofollowbacks
http://twitter.com/autofollowlist

They're both based off the same list, though the first one (autofollowbacks) has been adding more and now has nearly 400 people in there. Seems like a pretty good technique.

Mickeys last blog post..Want more followers? FeedBurner is showing a total of 94,080, so that's about right. Being a site about a Google product, I've long suspected that the vast majority were using Reader and/or iGoogle.

Re: How many Google Reader subscribers do you have?

Hi5 Codes -- You're being very short-sighted. If used properly, a good RSS feed will bring MORE visitors to your site. For example, I follow about 250 feeds and keep up with them every day. There is NO WAY I'd visit all 250 sites each day, but I happily click-through when I find a good item (such as the one we're on right now).

If your site found its way into my feedreader, I'd see ALL of your new content every day. Otherwise, I might visit your site once every x days, when I happen to think of it.

Re: Justin.tv watch out

My number is in and I'm anxiously awaiting my SMS...

Re: Twitter Client War: Twhirl vs. TweetDeck

TweetDeck all the way, used in a similar manner as Scoble. I have an old XP laptop that's nearly dead (overheats, worthless battery, large vertical strip in the screen), but it's PERFECT for TweetDeck. I keep it on a cooling tray, plugged in, and line up the vertical dead zone to be between two columns in TD. Wonderful solution.

Re: Being coached on Getting Things Done

Awesome. Google doesn't see Facebook profiles for many people, thus killing the number of inbound links it thinks that page has. This is more of a problem with Facebook than with Google, I would think.

Re: Removing Snap Link Preview Pop-up

Here's one vote against - I prefer raw links.

Re: New Google AdSense for Feeds; a Pain in the Rear End

"Will you go through the manual process?" Where should it have started?

- MSL (0')?

- 919' (bottom of the lake)?

- 1035' (start of the "dead pool")?

- Some other level?

"That will deceive everyone into thinking a ***1%*** difference from last year is a big deal."

"You've tried to make 1% look significant."

Even with the 3.57' that the lake has risen since I did the chart, it's still only at about 57% of its capacity (1,464,000 acre-feet now, compared to 2,554,000 acre-feet when full). That means it's low by about 355 billion gallons -- a bit more than the "1%" that the first few comments stated.

"Unless the viewer takes a close look and pays attention to the number on the vertical axis it would appear that Lake Lanier is starting with about 50% as much water as previous years."

Not 50%, but close. Must closer to that than the 1% that you're stating. Wouldn't it have been more deceptive to start the chart at 0' and make it appear to be almost completely full?

I'll be doing this chart every month for a while (here is the one from April 1), so I'm open to suggestions on how to improve the chart for next month. I just want to get the facts out there as clearly as possible.

Mickey
