The last thing "technology" needs is more government bureaucracy. What power will a CTO have, control of what budget? Obama likes to say things to appease his crowd, but this is just another bad idea.

Oh please. This is legit story, and your nonsense about Fox News is quite ridiculous.

in We’re in a death spiral on Scobleizer
I'm sorry, but it's sensationalist stories like this that get people riled up for nothing. There is more to the economy than the stock market, and what people should really be upset about it the $700 billion (filled with pork as well) was another waste of government money.

in Palin is the least experienced VP ever - Officially Lucky, a blog by Clint Ecker on Officially Lucky
If you have investigated his past maybe you can fill everyone in on his lost years. I really don't know how anyone could look at his Chicago past and think this man is honest. Too bad this election is based on marketing. ;)

Clint Ecker His "lost years," as far as I can tell, is manufactured marketing by
angry right wing individuals trying so desperately (and sadly) to find
something racial for people to latch on to. It's pathetic that those
individuals would try this hard. But as long as we're talking about
people's pasts, perhaps you'd like to talk about McCain?

Lets talk about his cheating years where he cheated on and then
divorced his disabled wife. That's a man of integrity and honesty
right there.

Lets talk about McCain's involvement in the savings & loan scandal of
the late 80's and the Keating 5.

Lets talk about McCain's youth and pampered life in the military as
the son of a wealthy and influential Admiral.

Lets talk about McCain's campaign manager, Rick Davis, (a lobbyist
btw) who's been getting $15,000 monthly payments from Freddie Mac

Lets be completely real here. No person can be 100% assured of
someone else's 100% honesty until you've known that person for a very
long time. However, in our lives, there are a lot of ways you can
reasonably assure yourself of someone's character. I've read up on
Obama, I've done a lot of research and gotten a lot of very smart,
very down to earth people's opinions on the guy. I've got my own
opinions. What I am assured of, with out a doubt in my heart is his
honesty and strength of character.

What I've yet to be convinced of is that McCain has either of those
two things. I can't turn left or right without finding another
scandal, another impropriety, another falsehood, outright lie, or
gaffe from McCain, his running mate, and his campaign.

The Canon looks like a great piece of gear. It's not on my list, not because of the economy, but because I already have a fantastic camera. :)

Deregulation is not the problem. Bush wanted to overhaul the system in 2003, but guess who killed the proposal?

in My fellow Democrats on Scobleizer
"Global warming is something that’s observable. Not a religion. A religion is where you take things on “faith.” The fact that we are even calling it a debate in this country shows how far down we’ve gone."

Well Skip pretty much summed up what I was going to say. Global Warming is a fact, it's the causes that have made it some type of religion.

But regardless, Obama isn't going to wave his hand and solve global warming (although his followers probably believe this), his tax positions are more horrid than any jokes they can make about Palin.

You have made some interesting points, but democrats have ruined another election by selecting someone who is just an empty suit. I would like to ask these same CEO's what their thoughts are on the taxes that Obama will use to pay for some of the things they are complaining about.

Now I don't care for McCain either, but to think that raising taxes and restricting regulations on business is going to better the economy is just crazy.

The anti-science and anti-technology comment is truly off the mark. Science itself has become a religion. We see that with the Global Warming crowd. Science and technology will be better off if we have a limited government, not another nanny state.

in The political topic that must not be discussed in USA on Scobleizer
Great post. Although I would like to mention to some that "talking points" on a politicians website do not constitute a discussion about the issue.

in Who should be USA’s CTO? on Scobleizer
It really doesn't matter who you put in there. What will their powers be? What will their influence be? I would think in reality this is just another useless position that really won't accomplish anything but more politics.

DC doesn't accomplish things, they just make them worse.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with you on this. Although we might disagree on the cause of it, I personally believe it's the generation that really doesn't care about anything, but they like to make themselves (and others) think so.

BTW, the Amazon link isn't working for me.

in Which US Presidential Candidate has the best tech policy? on Scobleizer
Tech policies mean crap in the real world. You want to analyze the candidates? How will the massive tax increases and social spending that Obama plans affect employers and people who actually produce something.

You are really starting to sound like an Obama talking points memo.
