w00t. Read this post a bit too late.
The way cops act here in Australia and Malaysia is different mainly because the cops here are paid ten times more than Malaysian cops, hence they can make a decent living. Malaysian cops have to resort to bribery to survive simply because they get slave wages.
It also has to do with the culture here. Most Australians are helpful and will always put on a smile for you... unlike Malaysians. The government brainwashes people to think that Malaysians are well-known for being kind and helpful, the reality is far from that.

Protestants are a seperate branch of Christianity from Catholics; those who do not accept the authority of the Pope. Needless to say, they are quite different from your ordinary 'protestors'. ;)

I did a report on suicide in high school. One of the most obvious tell-tale signs is severe depression and a sudden shift into being at peace and happy a few days prior to committing suicide without any obvious reason. This is the point where the decision has been made and is irreversible.
Of course, there are times when you get people just wanting attention, so they stage false suicide attempts, but even these can go the wrong way and they might end up dead.
I suppose at the end of the day, through various circumstances and consequences in life, not everyone has the courage to endure living... death is the easy way out.

I decided to define ubiqituous on Google... yes, my vocabulary is extremely dense :P. Bah! I'm a mathematician, not a literacy professor.
Anyways, for everyone else confused about the meaning of this yet unpronounceable word (for me at least), Google gives the following:
define:ubiqituous
(Adj) "Anywhere at any time"
widely present.
omnipresent: being present everywhere at once
So I guess, being born in Singapore, I must say, the most ubiquitous sound is.... the traffic!! :D
Tho, that was 16 odd years ago... I haven't been back for a long time!
