I have the same problem on my N95-1

I've emailed the developers, as I agree this is one SWEEET app. and I'd love for it to work correctly.

I also have the problem that when e.g. viewing a contact and then exiting to the standby screen SkyeQuiKey is no longer catching my input so I get the normal numbers instead.

I already got a response from the developers (WOW - fast!) and they are sending me a never version to test.

It seems it may be because I'm not using English as my system language.

There is a quick workaround when your softkeys disappear:

just press the * or # key followed by "C" (backspace)

Hopefully they will have it fixed soon - it's a very cool app.

UPDATE:

The bug mentioned above seems to be only on phones not using English as their language.

I have received a new test version which fixes the problem, but unfortunately introduces another one :-(

I am in dialogue with the developers, so I expect them to fix it quite soon (the other problem was fixed in less than 24 hrs), so expect a working version any day.

I just received a new build from the developer that fixes that bug.

I have also created a Danish translation for him, so I assume the next version will also include Danish as an option for those who live here. (meaning you will be able to use the danish terms for "New SMS", "New MMS" etc. when searching).

Pending Symbian Signing the new version (probably 1.01) will be out around mid next week (i.e. Nov. 7).

I agree that this is really a must have program!

I know the developer tested the bug on his phone using german language, so there's a good chance the next version will work OK on your phone as well.

how can you use Skyequikey together with the google app.?

When I press the pencil to bring up the google app typing in it activates skyequickey so I can't search.

Actually I need to leave powersaving off to be able to receive data (even on latest 12.0.013 firmware) - bummer :-(

They have a trial version available that is free, as far as I can see the only limitation is you can only use it with one WiFi device (the first one you connect), but compared to JoikuSpot it already supports ALL protocols, which means I can use with my iPod Touch and get full 3G access to mail, weather, Google Maps, YouTube etc.

It seems they will not be selling the unlimited version directly to customers, but until JoikuSpot supports all protocols (and not just http & https) it's a great alternative, especially for iPod Touch owners like me.

There are 3 things preventing me from getting an iPhone (actually 4 - since it's not out in Europe yet)

1. Camera quality and resolution

2. No Navigation software (TomTom) (I'm not talking about built in GPS, but the inability to install a proper navigation program.

3. No VOIP (for cheap/free calls home to my family when I'm traveling with work around Europe).

I agree that the user experience on the iPhone is second to none, and hopefully it will make other manufacturers work harder, I would also love to get that good battery performance - but without the 3 things above, it's not ready to replace my N95 yet

It's great if you travel a lot to other countries, as you can use the hotels WIFI to call home at local rates, instead of paying the astronomically high roaming rates of the local carrier.

I guess this is mainly a problem in Europe, where the EU are just about to pass a law to put a limit to the price carriers can charge for roaming.

But basically if you are frequently in another country than your own, MOIP can save you a lot of money when calling home.

I AGREE 100% - that's what people need to understand - the "revolution" from the iPhone is not about specs (it doesn't come close to my N95 in that respect) but the UI. Try switching to the Gallery on your S60 phone - what do you get, screen partly redrawn, some black some white, then the gallery finally appears - the same with other stuff (Nokia is trying to make it nicer with the multimedia menu of the N95)

From the demos of the iPhone it seems the interface will be much more "smooth".

I know this is all eye-candy, but eye-candy sells and improves the perception of the user experience - THAT is what is special about the iPhone, not much else (which is why I got the N95!!! - also the iphone won't be available here in Europa until the end of this year :-) ).

I have 3 hopes:

1. BOOKMARKING SUPPORT (or at least "remember playback positition")

2. That it will be available as download for my N95

3. That is will be released SOON !!!

Since I'm in Europe I already have 3G support (even HSDPA though at present I can't use that and the phone service at the same time) so I just need bookmark support to ditch my iPod completely for podcast listening.

What about the musicplayer? - Darla Mack wrote about the next version supporting simple bookmarking (remember play position) and sorting podcasts in a separate section.

Also, has the bug with recurring alarm messing up the multimedia button/menu been fixed?

Too bad they've not improved on the free RAM :-(

Nice thoughts about the iPhone and it's impact on the industry - I completely agree that, THAT is the REAL revolution when it comes to the iPhone.

Have you tried recording without video-stabilizer on? - my experience is that it make the video MORE "wobly" then without using it, but I haven't tried it in a car. Just a thought :-)

I'm not sure if the photo is real or not (looks a bit fake) but I've just heard from a contact at NOKIA, that a new version of the N95 is due out in sept/oct. I don't have any specs. but it will feature the new music player with bookmark support and separation of podcasts that Darla Mack wrote about some weeks ago.

The good news is that the firmware will also be available for the current N95 phones, so it seems to indicate that the new phone is technically the same, but maybe with an 8GB card included and a new design - or it could fit the description by n-psycho above.

It would be much more usefull - that way you could also Video IM home to family and friends sitting on their computer, or as you say, phones without a camera buth with the ability to stream video.

I too am surprised that no one has made such an app yet.

The iPhone uses Flash memory as well, no HDD

But you can't exchange memorycards like on the N95

(and with the size of MicroSDHC cards you could easily care lots of GB with you).

Theoretically they could do it, because they have never stated that the N95 can use more than 2GB (even though we KNOW that it can use at least 4GB).

But by not officially stating it can use more than 2GB they can't be sued over removing support for larger cards, as it's has never (officially) been there.

But, I hope they will never do such a thing - also, that fact that they ADDED SDHC support to the N800 in the latest firmware talks agains them trying to limit older devices.

As mentioned it should have some form of demand paging.

Ricky, how reliable is your source about demand paging coming for the original N95?

You've been pretty spot on before, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the next FW update.
