Yeah, Blogger can be a little too restrictive at times and that is why I moved my blog, created a domain and bought some hosting on StreamlineNet servers then uploaded WordPress which is a hell of a lot more versatile.

Google Analytics says nothing about my other trafficking sites (Blog Top Sites, Blog Top List or BlogFlux) and I have just checked again today and BlogMad says I now get 37% of my visitors from there - that is more than from my bull3t.blog.me.uk redirect! - it really is a good thing to have.

To get the ratings/views to show as if they are part of the theme I just simply copied the following code from theloop.php:

Pasted it underneath itself and then changed it to do the following:

Basically, where you can see that it says class="entry-rate" and class="entry-views" I simply opened up the K2 style.css file and copied the entry-tags style, changed it to suit the new images and location. Works a treat.

If you would like me to email you the two files (theloop.php and style.css) I would be more than happy to do so.

I use the K2 Sidebar Modules for my sidebar as it seems to be a hell of a lot easier and nicer looking.

Hey, Jim. I see what you mean, they both have good points and bad points so should be used together. I haven't used Twitter much since today and I don't really know why. When I first found Twitter I used it pretty often, but the novelty wears off after a few weeks and I think the same will happen to Pownce. I suppose you already have been invited to Pownce then?

I think that Pownce is simple and easy to use, so it could replace Twitter if many of the Twitter features were integrated into Pownce.

Very true, they do rock at most things, such as quality applications. They just miss out on the little things that should give their applications the edge over most others, nothing big really though.

Yeah, that is a very helpful plugin, I think WordPress should have a page somewhere which lists all of the plugins used on the current blog (it doesn't have to be integrated into the blog, but into the backend somewhere) it would be very helpful to see what plugins people are using. I am forever searching keywords to find a feature on a blog that I liked. Meh.

Yeah it does feel lighter than CS3, I thought that was just the fact that I upgraded my RAM to 2GB just before I installed it, but obviously it runs smoother than CS2 on other computers too.

I used Photoshop and Dreamweaver of CS2 and couldn't be bothered with the others, but with CS3 I have installed nearly everything. They are pretty amazing programs.

The plugin I use for related posts is called Category Tagging, but it doesn't work 100% with WordPress 2.3 - I had to make changes to it to get it to work properly. If you want, I can send you the edited version through email.

Thanks, Dispoweb. I was just thinking about trying to install a translator plugin again (after seeing your blog). The last time I tried, the Global Translator plugin I used did not operate at all. It has been updated since though. I have just installed the plugin and it works perfectly except it doesn't seem to let anyone leave comments on my blog. Damn, that is going to have to stay deactivated for now.

Okay, maybe the last plugin is a little spammy then, never really thought about it, but it is just a pointless email really. It is supposed to encourage readers to re-visit your blog and leave more comments - maybe it doesn't work.

I always try to encourage comments here and if you look at all of the posts, they all have an even number of comments. That is because I try to reply to every single comment I receive. Hehe.

Yeah, that plugin is really quite helpful. It makes new visitors feel welcomed. As does the WordPress Landing Sites plugin, I may add that to the list and explain it a little. It basically just shows a message to your visitors who have landed on your blog from a search engine. It will then suggest other posts for them to look at, specifically to their search term.

That is a little silly - why would Akismet add you to the blacklist the first time one of your comments is flagged as spam? I would have thought that it would take at least 3 spam-like comments before it blacklists you. To avoid legitimate commenters getting blacklisted.

Hmm, well that is annoying. When the saving text appears it should be saving your post/page and then the button should reappear with text next to it reading: "saved at [time]". If there was an error it should return with the error and the button, the text should read: "error: [error_message]". It is weird that it doesn't work - seems to be fine on mine.

What browser are you using and what plugins does your WordPress installation currently have activated? I will see if I can reproduce it. Thanks for the report though.

Aha! I have just found out that because of the typing mistake I made to the name of the plugin when I asked WordPress to host my plugin on the WordPress Plugins database the folder name is now completely incorrect! When you download the plugin it is added to a folder called "ajax-save-post" which is incorrect, it should be called "ajax-post-save". I really need to ask Matt or someone else to fix that.

I have now fixed the issue with the plugin and updated it to automatically accommodate changes to the plugin's location and folder name. You can download version 1.1 from the WordPress plugin database.

@Gene: That is strange because it now works without hanging for me and Nath. Are you sure you uploaded both ajax-post-save.php and admin-ajax.php? If so, maybe you could let me know what plugins you currently have installed. Also, if you want to you can try deactivating all of them to see what one (if any) causes an error - if you can't be bothered, don't worry I will download the plugins you use and try it myself.

@Nath: Duplicating a post has never happened to me before, it must be an issue related to Recommended Tags and something not working well with Ajax Post Save. I have just installed the Recommended Tags plugin to my WordPress test site to check the duplicate post issue. When I activated both Ajax Post Save and Recommended Tags, then saved a post through Ajax Post Save no duplicate post was created, the post was saved.

Ajax Post Save does not currently save post or page tags, this is because it is difficult to do so as they have to be processed, so leaving it for the default 'Save and Continue Editing' button is all I can do for now - I may decide to integrate tag saving at a later date though.

Adding the preview button to new posts will be added in later versions of Ajax Post Save, it is one of things that I need to do.

Hmm, it may not have been StockQuoteSB at all then; it could be an error in Ajax Save Post which caused it to fail, but enabling/disabling another plugin fixed it, somehow.

Apparently, all you have to do is revert to the default permalinks, and then back to your custom one, or to change the permalink structure to something else, and then back again. Just to flush the rules and get it to re-generate them. It is a rather weird error, but it just seems like WordPress and/or your database jammed while doing something with the permalinks and was unable to correct itself, forcing the rewrite rules to mess up.

True, I don't use many other Social Media sites apart from Digg but I would say that StumbleUpon brings in the highest quality and number of visitors even if they don't really stay on your blog for very long.

I agree, Red Hat Enterprise Linux really isn't worth buying when there are so many other distributions that can be downloaded for free. Most of the time the free distributions have more features as well. I only used Red Hat because I could easily get a legitimate copy of it. If I were to use Linux as a home operating system I would definitely go for a free distributable (most likely Ubuntu).

Yeah, I am happy with the traffic, but I just don't think that it is the best way to get people to comment on your blog or subscribe to your feed.

I normally read more than just the landing page of a blog when stumbling, but normally only if I like what I had landed on. When I say that, I don just mean content; if I like the content but hate the design of the website, most of the time I won't read more than just the landing page. Whereas if I like the design but don't like the content I will skim across some of the other posts. It's weird...

Thanks Ignacio. I am hoping to release the next version of Ajax Post Save soon, as I have found a few bugs in the current version. I have noticed (in the development version) that the automatic save every 2 minutes (or whatever you have set it to) does not function properly. It doesn't seem to save the post nor does it disable the timeout timer. I will have to fix that before releasing it though.

I have just sold my Xbox 360 for Â£200 (in mint condition) because I got bored of it after the first few months. I don't think that it was worth it, I really should have waited a little while a got a Playstation 3, but even then I think I would get bored of it because I use my computer more than any console.

Agreeably, short-term visitors are better than no visitors at all, because it helps to populate your blog even if the visitors don't read further than just the landing post. Some StumbleUpon visitors do subscribe to your feed, but as you have pointed out it is a very small amount; you received 30000 visitors to your blog from StumbleUpon and your subscriber count only increased by 50, that means that only 0.0016% of those visitors subscribed to your feed.

I am not really sure whether normal visitors would have a higher percentage, but just thought I would point that out.

I obviously don't benefit as much from StumbleUpon as you do, though. My blog isn't as well-known or popular as yours; I only get a mere 1000-3000 visitors a month. Maybe if my blog was a little more active and popular, I would benefit from StumbleUpon visitors and they would probably stay on my blog a little longer.

Yeah, Parkour does only have a small population, but if you join up with some of the groups that join up (such as SouthCoastParkour, England) you can get quite a few people turning up in one place.

The reason I suggest using more than one anti-virus and anti-spyware program is to - in theory - stop those few slipping through the cracks. However, even this doesn't always work; you really need to keep your anti-virus and anti-spyware systems up to date and do a full system scan regularly.

Yeah, WordPress stats does seem to slow down the blog; but my blog is slow enough that you wouldn't notice if I turned it off. Haha, I have way too many plugins and modifications and the K2 theme doesn't help much either.

According to the Download Day Headquarters the websites were up and running at around about 18:16 GMT. However, I did not see them change the download button from Firefox 2 to Firefox 3 until at least 19:00 GMT (maybe even 20:00 GMT) and so I was only able to download it from then onwards and even then it was slow.

I haven't seen any bugs, I think that is because they didn't do many changes from the last release candidate, but don't quote me on that. Everything seems to be running smoothly (and most of my plug-ins are working as well)!

I haven't been blogging lately, but not because I am lost in Plurkland, I am lost in the blogosphere. I can't seem to find anything interesting to blog about and when I do I can't seem to write a long enough post to make it worth while.

So it is more the opposite: people who are lost for imagination/concentration on their own blogs, turn to Twitter-like applications in order to carry on blogging/tweeting the ideas that they couldn't expand into a long blog post.

I was kind of aiming towards people with knowledge in computers. If you are buying a computer for the first time, then a pre-built one would be the best option, unless you are up for a challenge.

I too love the character development side of RPG's. The Witcher seems to have very limited amounts of items that can actually be used as weapons/armour by the character to simplify the process of development. In fact the only thing you can do to improve your character is distribute the skill points and occasionally upgrade your weapons if you feel like it (which isn't needed to advance through the game).

It's a shame really, because character development is what makes an RPG an RPG and not just an adventure game. Yet somehow The Witcher still manages to stun and amaze.

If WoW had really nice graphics I would probably still be playing it now, even if I didn't have the time or money. That's why Age of Conan is brilliant. Gameplay should definitely take centre stage, but if a game has shockingly crap graphics but amazing gameplay it would be discarded whereas if a game has shockingly crap gameplay and amazing graphics, it would be popular.
