The impact of Twitter on my blogs traffic is huge. Obviously it depends a lot about what you are Tweeting about. To give you an example, take twittnotes.com. My Alexa dropped from millions to about 500K recently. I can tell you know that 80% of that traffic comes from Twitter. Obviously, it is a better bait considering that all articles are Twitter related, but nevertheless, you can do the math. For iblogzone.com, it is now driving some 30% of my traffic. For the sole purpose of traffic, if your site is compelling and you got good articles, it is massive. Remember, in my case, 17K Tweeple are viewing my Tweets. If some of them ReTweets it, then it can be exponential. Like I said before, I group my followers to a point that I can monitor all my VIP's. That "Royal Club" of VIP's is restricted, lol. And you are in it...

hahaha, Unfortunately and as you know, most of the people around me here in Portugal are Portuguese bloggers. Some of them even asked me why I am blogging in English. I told them that I wanted to be to able to reach a wider audience and while I am not participating in the "most influential bloggers", I would think that they will eventually give me support. Wait, my Portuguese maid just gave me a note, what, oh.. she said she'll set up a blog only to say 10 bloggers is not enough:) Maybe 11?

You are right about having too many social sites. Having one identity or one single passport can be great, but on the other hand, has its advantages and also disadvantages. Right now, openid is one form to achieve a single identity. It is almost widespread and is accepted by virtually all important social media platforms. Privacy is obviously very important and can be compromised. This is where the advantage also comes in. If you are a victim of identity theft, someone can have access to all your accounts and that could be damaging.

Just wanted to say that I am glad that you now feel lighter and that you spilled out everything you've got with regards to whatever happened lately.

One thing though, I do not "waste" my time with a nobody. Catch my drift...lol. Nobody is normally a demotion from someone who does not deserve any respect, and you got mine.

With regards to paid posts, I am somewhat in agreement with you. I agree if the blogger successively writes paid posts. It is boring and one can easily see that it is not his/her style. If it only where something related to their niche and will actually bring value, it is okay. Take me, I blog about "Business Online" and yet I have done one paid post. Can you guess which one of them is that? I hope not:)

Loose readers with ads? In your case Jan, I don't think so. As a matter of fact, some ads make the blogs appearance much livelier with colors and stuff:). Ads are only annoying if there is no content. That my friend you have a lot to give..

hi Jan. I don't have any complaints on your blog. You are a fantastic writer and one that I admire because of the way you "involve" you readers. When we start reading, we know that it is going to get better, that's it. Plain and simple.

With regards to my questions, hmm. Are you ever going to monetize your blog? This is obvious coming from me because of my topic (don't you think?). If I can be of any help, let me know and I can find the "right" affiliate programs for you.

I know I have told you that I will post something about Kindle. Just didn't find the time yet. Anyway, did you know you can sell your blog on Amazon Kindle? Fantastic stuff. I am still thinking about the sixth part of the "Top Of Anything Series", lol.

I do suffer from this "sickness" once in a while, specially when I am tired. I found that it is better to just "cool off" and take the opportunity to blog hop. And, mind you that I too have a lot of ideas. My main problem is to get in cranking. As you said, once that part is over, everything else seems to just glide away.

Well, this is indeed a very "diplomatic" way to send some people a message. I hope that I am not included in one of those "SEO Gibberish" sites you are talking about. Anyway, I would know, wouldn't I?

Overall, I do believe that as long as you are giving some value to someone, that is OK. Telling an online buddy what he is doing wrong, in a constructive means, is always welcome (at least for me). Sometimes, I do it by sending an email. There is no point to it publicly.

BTW; I like the exception. I will post an article soon about "selling" your blog on Kindle:)

OK. I would not put your Blog Roll on a different page if possible. If you do that, it could be considered as a "link farm" (if you have a lot) and will not count as much for link popularity.

I really like the "excerpts" below your home page. Maybe you can just put excerpts on everything, including your recent posts. For example, right now, if I am not a sneaky little bas**rd, I would not have seen your excerpts, because they are way down the page. Consider that my friend.

Worry not about your PR, it will come back, and I believe sooner than you think. Often, Google does some "intermediary" rounds and updates PR's.

Social bookmarking (addthis or similar) and retweet buttons is definitely a must. Make it discrete and well positioned.

Hello Luis. Product recommendation is good advice once credibility and trust has been established. If you are credible enough, it is more likely that your visitors and loyal readers will trust a recommendation from you and feel compelled to at least take a peek of what you are suggesting.

Done without any regards for trust, credibility and respect will hurt you and drive your visitors away - for good.

Hello and thanks for visiting my blog. As for "recession", yes I do believe that it exist both as a financial crisis and the other "psychological" or state of mind as you define. There are people who don't have money (credit crunch and all) and those that have them are afraid to spend thinking of what will happen the next day (e.g. loosing your job).

I own a small business (offline) and it is the type of business that goes for 2nd to 3rd necessities. When there is a crisis this is were people cut most. Basic groceries are a 1st necessity and so it is difficult to cut on them. It might be complicated to spot the recession on an individual level, but it has a domino effect and unfortunately, it is here to stay for a while.

Short but effective video. Thanks for the tip on CamStudio. I have been searching for good and decent software to capture my screen and create video and all I found was crap. I like CamStudio and best of all it is free.

I have a question? How can you convert a Powerpoint presentation into a video. Can you do this on OpenOffice.org?
