in Bridge School Benefit Lineup Announced on Live Music Blog.com
Not in Cali, not going to make the trek, but if you've never been to a Bridge School Benefit, it's a lot of fun. One of those "you gotta do it at least once" deals. They're a bit more fun when PJ is part of the lineup, because everyone goes nuts, and they really are great acoustic. Saturday looks like fun, I'd choose ZZ Top and Sarah (remember I'm Canadian) over Groban and the Pumpkins.

Justin -
Oh I really like both bands (Galactic and Secret Machines). I've only seen SM once tho, and it was a short set @ the "On The River" thing in Philly. The last time I saw Galactic I had an insanely good time tho (ALO opened which made it that much more fun).
I'll probably do both. It's not so much a "opt out of some" issue here in Vancouver, there are SO FEW good shows that you pretty much take what you can get. But its been very consistent here - months and months go by w/ nothing interesting at all, then in a couple week span there are a bunch of shows. One of those "when it rains it pours" kinda deals, which only makes sense, since it rains here 7 months of the year.

in Umphrey’s McGee | Fall 2008 Tour Dates, New Year’s Eve on Live Music Blog.com
I'm psyched they're coming back to Vancouver. Already got my ticket, and Richards on Richards is a very small club. I'll be there early in line so I get a spot in front of the stage.
My current dilemma is if I should go to Galactic the night before Secret Machines (both also at Richards on Richards). SM is a no-brainer, but w/ Galactics current 'rap phase' I'm torn. I applaud them for branching out and doing something different for a while, it's just not my thing. Decisions decisions.

in Editor’s Note: BLOGGER FAIL? on Live Music Blog.com
It sounds to me like you need a good musical kick in the bum-bum. Which is why I implore you to purchase a ticket for one of the Gov't Mule shows in SF this Nov. If you walk out of the Filmore that night without a shit-eating grin on your face I will be nothing short of amazed.
But I can relate. I just saw the Black Crowes for the umpteenth time, and even though it had been 2+ years since I've seen them, and I was literally 6 feet away from Luther, I walked out of the venue going "yep.. another BC show.." If it wasn't for Luther (my first show seeing him as a band member) I might very well have left half way through. That and I was a bit determined to get my $80+ worth of the show (I didn't).

Heh I scrolled to the lineup right away, and the first thing I thought was "wow, indie-hipster dream festival". Then chuckled at your second sentence.

You're a savior for posting a mirror/hosting the file. It's no longer available via the TUAW link (or the file host they opted to use is down today).

I'm curious - have you resubmitted your site to Google after removing the text link ads? I know a number of folks got their rank back right away after doing so...Good luck, you deserve better than a 3.

in Callwave will change your phone system on Scobleizer
I'm curious if anyone else is unable to sign up. I've repeatedly received the error message "Sorry, please enter a valid mobile phone number" over the last hour. I've tried using Safari and Firefox in OS X, IE in Windows. The area codes are Canadian - 778 and 604 - neither worked.

in Signed, sealed, delivered…I’m yours on Neha Tiwari
Good for you. Sounds like it'll be cool, and it's very much in the field you're interested in. And even if it's not as great as you hope (which I kinda doubt, it seems like a cool atmosphere etc) - it'll only boost your resume that much more. I loved the "company was bought and repackaged" comment. That's a really polite way of saying "bought and totally ruined" - and this is coming from somehow who worked at the company that ruined it (though I had nothing to do w/ TechTV/G4/TechTVG4/Whatever-its-called-now aspect).

Gov't Mule, Dec 30th, 2005. Or maybe 10/18/2006. Or 5/22/2006. One of those 3 dates anyway. Gov't Mule is the most under-rated band currently playing.
Bands I'd like to see but haven't yet - Warren Haynes solo (he's the lead singer of Gov't Mule), The Brain Damaged Eggmen and/or Bustle in your Hedgerow are high on the list.
I've seen Metallica a number of times, but it's pretty unlikely I'll ever see them again (barring being given free tickets and not having anything better to do that night). The best show was by far the one on the Justice tour (I'm old..). That's a band that has long past it's prime. Cypress Hill I got to see on their very first tour (again, I'm old) and it was great fun. I'd absolutely see them again, just for the hell of it.
I've heard good things about the latest Chris Cornell CD, though I'm a bit ashamed to admit I still haven't given it a listen.

in Facebook wall update coming tonight on Scobleizer
Robert,
They'll take the request from you more seriously than they would from me - please ask them to increase the customization for Facebook groups. It would be excellent to be able to add widgets/modules/apps whatever they're called today, to groups, not just individual profiles.
Cheers.

BonEcho/optimized Firefox/whatever you want to call it - http://www.beatnikpad.com/archives/2007/03/29/f... is the reason I still use Firefox on my Mac. I don't know how anyone can use the non-custom builds and enjoy FF on a Mac. Greatest thing since sliced bread.

hahahahha man that's AWESOME the very first thing I thought while glancing through that lineup was "wow Das EFX that's really cool". So I'm not the only one that likes then. I actually have "If Only" on my MP3 player - it's one of those timeless songs (for me).

in Someone’s Got a Case of the Mule Mondays on Live Music Blog.com
"similar to what we do every Friday around here, i.e. Phish Fridays" is putting it very nicely. A more honest way to phrase it would have been "blatantly ripping off the Phish Friday idea" - which I 100% admit to doing. But it's really a case of imitation being the most sincere form of flattery. Cheers!

What Billboard left unsaid, is that the Mule also offer each and every show in lossless .flac format as well (for a couple bucks more). Talk about REALLY knowing your audience.

Yeah JamBase was also one of the WORST offenders for the longest time - their RSS feed would often have nothing more than the article title and a link. Huge kudos to them for the new/fixed feed.
Some of the bigger tech sites are starting to offer 'ad-sponsored' versions of their feeds - the feed that has full articles also has ads. The feeds that are just partial content have no ads.

Gov't Mule @ The Bowery Ballroom (H&M; release party)
Gov't Mule @ The Commodore Ballroom (2nd night)
All 3 were equally amazing, I think. It's hard to pick :)
