It seems like just yesterday I was calling you a rising star in the Chicago blogosphere. Congrats. Well deserved.

in Tidbit of the Day: Mike Royko = God on Daniel B. Honigman's site
Nice post - one of my favorite books! Mike Royko has a great quote that can be easily applied to the blogosphere:

“It’s been my policy to view the Internet not as an ‘information highway,’ but as an electronic asylum filled with babbling loonies.”

Couldn't stop staring at your ash. Seriously, nice review. Very well written. If only I smoked cigars.

Hey Daniel, thanks for the comment. Good to hear from you. Coincidentally, I was just browsing your blog this past weekend. When you have a second, email me with an alternate email address or cell phone number because my emails to you keep bouncing back with errors.

Talk to you soon.

in Federated (cough, Macy’s) replaces marketing chief after 15 months on Daniel B. Honigman's site
I don't think any marketing chief could have saved Macy's from what happened in Chicago. From an outsider perspective with absolutely no retail marketing experience, I think the position was destined for failure. And it didn't help that so many high-fashion vendors were upset about the buyout and ultimately left Field's for competitors like Nordstrom. Nordstrom is getting all the sloppy seconds and loving it.

Congrats and kudos. I've enjoyed browsing your blog and will be back. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. Glad you like/d it. By the way, I recently wrote a post that mentioned Mike Royko, so I was impressed to see your Royko Fellow award on your resume. That's quite an honor. All the best in your continued blogging.

in Happy 500th Post to You! on The Marketing Technology Blog
Congrats, Doug. I've enjoyed reading your blog and look forward to 500 more. There is a rumor going 'round that bloggers can collect pension after the 1000th post - so I guess you're at a mid-blog-life crisis right about now. :-)

in The Marketing Blogs Kitchen Sink on Duct Tape Marketing
Thanks for the write-up, John. Since the ranking launched, any "slippage" has resulted from the addition of new bloggers to the list. After the announcement, several bloggers suggested their own sites, some of which made the top 100, 50 and even the top 10, which may have bumped you down from the original ranking you received a few weeks ago. So, as you notice rankings change, it typically means new blogs have been added. Most of the fluctuation has occurred around No. 40 and up. Within the last week or two, no additions have been made to the top 10, so you've been pretty stable as of late. Lucky No. 7 is very solid.

Your readers may be interested to know that the list also comes with a subscribe-to-your-search feature that allows them to grab the RSS feed for their custom keyword search. They'll automatically be updated anytime someone in the Power 150 writes about that topic.

Have a good day.

Todd
