I, too, would prefer people use their real names rather than some SEO keywords, but I can tolerate the self-promotion scheme from time-to-time.

Again, thanks for the response. I've stumbled the post.

Re: A blog by any another name

One of my favorite Spanish blogs is titled, "Un blog sin tagline". Which is, "A blog without a tagline."

On my personal blog I've struggled to name it, but I just used my domain name. Giving it a title would be like naming my apartment. But for RA Project, it would be more like naming a business or organization.

Re: Link Controversy

I'll definitely be following this and perhaps doing a quick case study on the potential of de-linking commenter's names in the section.

It's a good idea in a sense of eliminating do-follow and no-follow from the equation.

Re: Link Controversy

Now that I've seen your implementation, I quite like it. Not sure what'll happen with long URLs though :)

Maybe perhaps a little DOM implementation where when a user hovers over it, it changes into a clickable link.

Re: Silence is golden

Andrew,

I'd have to agree with Christoph here and say that the extra complexity might deter those who would use the plugin generator, which ideally I suppose would be those wanting a shortcut.

A possibility could be a structure option and have a basic and advanced option, but that would be much more work on your part.

As far as the 24 hour thing, I'm also with Chris on this. I foresee broken links and more broken links. However, I can see a potential for premium content to be used this way. Post it for 24 hours, and if you want indefinite access to it, pay for it.

Re: Anti-spam plugin testers wanted

Testing comment

Re: Your theme would be amazing if…

@Ray,
The Mimbo Pro theme I'm using (see my link) does that I believe. And the script used (TimThumb I think) is opensource from ProThemeDesign.com.

@Andrew,
The thing I think a lot of themes lack is a decent sitemap and archive pages. I'd really like to see some innovation there and make the archives a resource rather than a place to dump old posts.

Re: 5 Things WordPress should not do in 2.6

WP should not mess with the comment section. A CMS type tool here it only allows authors to edit certain categories, posts, and pages.
2. A featured comment tool where a blogger can mark one as more important than the other. Then have a template tag where a blogger can show the featured comments for a post.
3. Have a white-list where a commenter has unfiltered comments, is never moderated, and never checked for spam.
4. Port Vivtiger Image Resizer over to 2.5 (not an easy task)
5. An author management tool where you can allow authors of multiple blogs add bios, pictures. Have a template library to customize the author page. Lots of potential here.

That's all for now.

Re: Plugin / Theme developers are people too

You're welcome Andrew :)

Re: Six million ways to die: choose one

Great post Andrew.

As you may have noticed, I have taken a break from most things WordPress (okay, all things). It appears you've got the function of the plugin down pretty good.

The reason between the styles is that some feed readers will strip out inline styles (such as Feed Demon).

For example, if you use Feed Styler for images, you'll notice I use deprecated attributes such as 'align' and 'border' while also using inline styles. It may seem redundant, but the ones that strip out inline styles usually pick up the deprecated image attributes.

Re: May 2008: WordPress Plugins Used On This Site

If you're willing to test a fairly stable plugin, try the newest RC1 of Ajax Edit Comments.

If you're used to AEC 1.x, it's a radical, but nice change IMO.

Read Ronald Huereca's latest blog post....Ajax Edit Comments 2.0 RC1 Released>>>
