in What’s your favourite thing to watch on TV? on Carrie and Danielle
I rarely watch TV but have a weakness for Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. I don't believe for one second it gets done in a day but adore the makeover aspect of it.
I would love to watch a series on iconic dress designers especially Giorgio Armani well actually just a 2 hour doco on him would be cool.
big breaking new stories are amazing too. The big Tsunami came just after we finally got CNN and BBC and we were glued for days. The global village aspect of big news stories hold us fascinated.
If Carrie and Danielle get a TV show I would make TVNZ life hard until they gor it here

in The Mental Health of Questions on Carrie and Danielle
The SS is the opened door to the pathway.
Reflecting on the questions is the journey. i am a great believer in slow undramatic growth. Dramatic growth means I am struggling in the middle of some ghastly crisis. The questions are like good bread i can eat some every day and be nourished. I am also increasingly loving reading other women answers especially the regular contributors who use humor

in Tsh Oxenreider asks: In what way are you delightfully conventional? on Carrie and Danielle
When I was about seven years old I loved drawing conventional houses and my aspirations were simple. Marry, own a house and have children. Sadly peritonits as a teen put paid to the children part of my dream but most all the serious satisfaction of my life comes from being a homeowner and married woman.
I have my mother to thank for my career as such as even in the 1950s she was a strong believer in "girls getting a qualification" years ahead of her time really. I guess nursing and midwifery are pretty conventional careers for a woman and i have never been seriously tempted to try anything else.
I can lay claim to being pretty unconventional in my pioneering home birth in the city I live in. That Was way way outside convention in the 1970s. No one who knew me was surprised and why would they be?

Jennifer: in Canada nursing was - is? - pretty conventional but not midwifery. (I do love the way the British say this word! mid WIF ery! :) ) I believe the reason or at least one of the reasons may be that the physicians in Canada put up resistance to the idea of someone other than them help women to birth children. A power thing?

When I was in my teens I lacked the confidence to want to shake hands I though it was "silly" now I love to shake handand always offer mine first. I agree it says alot about a person thew hole way they shake hands
I love it more when its someone I know and we can give each other a BIG heart to heart hug. In NZ the Maori (First People of NZ) touch noses and this exchanges the Wairua which is the breath of life the Spirit.

Ah Gail
You have caught me out here. I don't have daily massages but if I only has 37 days to live I believe the budget could stretch to that

Someone wonderful once said to me that in life, your reasons are important. If you make a decision because its safe, because you're obligated to, because you lack faith in others or in general, or because you're hiding yourself from the world, ultimately, its not a truly good decision.

Apolite suggestion. What you might regard as clutter would/could be so very precious to the children. Regardless of their age involve them. I helped my Mum declutter near the end of her life and she was very moved by some of the things that I thought were precious. A sun faded water painting of the sea view where she grew up in Fiji. I had it reframed and it is very precious to me.

When my Granny passed away, all I wanted was a very old flour sack tea towel that she used exclusively for covering her cinnamon buns when they were rising. It is stained and faded, and it is one of the things I cherish most...that, and the chipped brown betty teapot she always made tea for us in. They both would have been thrown out if I, by chance, had not been there to rescue and claim them. Your suggestion will be a precious gift to anyone who takes your advise. Thank you.

in What do you love about men? (or, why is it so great being a man?) on Carrie and Danielle
The good thing about this is the sheer novelty when you do wear a suit. Everyone notices how totally hot you look. That is certainly the case for me with my smart casual husband. He appears once is a blue moon in a suit and all I can say is Wow!!!!!!

in Guy Kawasaki asks: If you could eliminate one activity from your day, what would it be? on Carrie and Danielle
Today right now it would be my unfortunate tendency when I percieve threat to over react. The saying "Do unto others before they do unto you" could have been written for Bolds. It is not needed in my life this way of behaving.
I did it to my boss and she did not deserve it. Fortunately for her (and me) the second half of my style statement will be my guide forward: Grace
Thank God my employer pays for high quality pratice supervisors and I can set about building a bridge instead of blowing one up and retreating into my heavily fortified castle.

I'm droolin like a hungry child at a candy store all these yummy postings Just make it more likely I will invade North America armed with my credit card and a list sometime
In the meantime it is spring here. A series of easy linen shirts with vetical detailing and turn up collars. Some Molly N heeeld sandals. scooped neck T shirts. a bangle of turquiose stones
Autumn 09 The only thing in my mind right now is I have found a dress maker who did sewing for Lord of the Rings and I am picturing a crushed velvet throw (Drama Drama)for evening dyed in a really flattering color that says Bold Grace is in town. Worn with some heeled Boots that make me 6ft tall. And my smoking Parisienne evening bag (for those fortunate enough to do Paris they're exquisite transport you right to paradise carrying one. Brand is Le Prince du Sud Paris) I never had a little evening clutch before. I just know I will feel like a goddess in my throw.

i have read hundreds (?maybe thousands!!! I blush to think of the forests) and I hesitate to mention one. Is the knowledge useful? Loud Yes Yes.
What makes it important is to compost the knowledge with huge amounts of life experience.
Stop judging and blaming
Start loving (self and others)
Value the moment
Forgive
Laugh at yourself sometimes
Be tender with yourself always
Share your vulnerabilities
Make fair and ethical choices
Be willing to serve others.
Acknowledge that none of this is easy to do all the time in fact it is bloody hard
S..T happens
Love yourself and others anyway with huge compassion and patience
Sometimes it is safer to walk away especially if you or vulnerable ones you are responsible for are in physical danger
Start at top of list again
Write your own list: Trust me it will be better than mine
Have respect for your own wisdom and truth

What you have written is up there with the Desiederata. Has the quality of wisdom of the ages about it. Wish I knew how to print just this one off. I would put it in my journal
