in Why did they forget Raghav on Something like life
I recall the nickname of Raman Raghav as "kanpati-maar". BTW.. plenty of bizarre ones have existed all over the world. Just Google for Crime Library and check them out for yourself. Do it on empty stomach and you may not even have to puke.

As Sakshi said, the blog takes forever to load. I think that's because of this external commenting system.

You're right. That was an inference I drew.
If it were the in-laws who were given the money, the reporter (even a bad one) couldn't possibly fail to explicitly mention it as evidence of the govt. perpetuating a social taboo.

Ah.. I didn't pay much attention to the title.. that's how much the first sentence irked me!
The threaded commenting system does look cool, I'll admit. However, it suffers from a fundamental problem: when the comment threads go long, comments tend get pushed more and more to the right.. eventually looking like a mess. It has happened on a couple of your posts already. I know you'll lose all comments when you switch, which is why I say switch now and regret less (as compared to the future switch) ;-) Plus, then all your data (comments) will be under a single management system (blogger).
Widgets.. I'd do away with the TTLB Ecosystem, MyBlogLog and SiteMeter. You'll always know the stats anyway. I have never been hugely impressed by a blogger showing his visitor stats. It is the content that matters.
PS: My blog.. hmm.. actually, that a case of the not-so-well known bureaucratic disdain against other bureaucrats. It is not an access block, the blog is gone.. there is nothing there right now. The password protection had to be done because the URL is paid for till May 2009.

Reg. Article. Actually I saw the title in headline, which is why I got irked.
Reg. comment getting pushed I can control the depth of thread or make it flat altogether. At present I have set it to 4, I can decrease it still.
Reg. I am sorry but I don't blog for any noble purpose like content, it is just to boost my low self esteem. Sitemeter, TTLB etc go a long way in doing this.
Reg. Your blog. Well I can understand. Your job requires discretion, not something blogs are known for.

Is it because the "most distressing" case cited isn't really distressing (within context, of course)? For a change, Govt seems to have done the right thing by putting the money in an FD in kids' name rather than giving it away as cash to relatives who might later split.
I am also quite irritated with the very first sentence of the article. Just WTF is meant by "nearly 68 persons lost their lives"? Was it 68? Or 67? Or 67 dead and one in coma? Oh wait.. I know.. it means the reporter didn't even bother to check the number of dead before advancing his sympathy credentials shamelessly.
PS: Can we please switch to blogger commenting system? I know I have been pestering you for a while to improve the template.. and kudos for improving the colour-scheme.. but this commenting system sucks. And you have too much widget-clutter.

Respected Overlord,
Actually I was irked because I couldn't find (except for a perfunctory sentence ) anything in the article which said anything about social taboos.
Reg. Commenting system, what is problem with the current one. I switched because it looked kinda cool. Problem with switching is that then all the comments of this system will be lost.
Reg widget most are just to boost my ego (except for feeds) which one do you want me to get rid of ?
PS. Why have blocked access to your blog. Is this famous bureaucratic disdain against aam aadmi ;-)

I wondered about the "OMG-I-asked-about-her-mother" post too. My thoughts were not too far from yours. Generalizing, overreacting idiots.
In Google Reader, you can - while sharing an item - attach a note to it. Then, you share the feed of your shared items (or it's URL).. and your subscribers will know your feelings about a particular shared item. If you want to write detailed responses, it would anyway be better write a blog entry.

Yes, I can understand the point that sometimes we Indians can be a tad insensitive about privacy but seriously the example of mother is ridiculous. It is just like when two dude are holding hands they are thought of as gays. Weird to power of n.
Actually at present I am doing the same thing, what I want is to publish on this blog. There is a "blog this" widget, but problem is that it is too heavy on loading unlike google reader widget.
By the way why have you restricted entry to us ordinary mortals, it is most distressing.

Robert,
Okay, you got us to pay attention. But if whatever M$ is doing is really going to change the world (that's a huge, huge thing), then I expect it to get plenty of attention anyway.
Having said that, let me add that things that change the world usually do not require eyeball-counts to do so.
