You posted it in the comments.

I think you misunderstand copyright law. I am excerpting the picture for the purposes of critical review, as exempted under the copyright act.

Re: Freedom of speech includes the right to be angry

I tell you what if you can't remember I'll have a search and see if I can find the picture and the quote to put up at lunchtime.

Should jog your memory.

Re: Freedom of speech includes the right to be angry

Let me refresh your memory: you wrote it to me when demanding that I take down an amusing picture of you slapping some girl's arse. Remember?

So perhaps you could withdraw the suggestion that I made it up.

You ain't no Malcolm Tucker by the way. A good insult has wit and memorable novelty. That was more like a little list.

Re: How does blog hosting impact your legal situation?

Factual correction: I am not legally the publisher. I also mispoke in that interview, the publisher is actually in Nevis, which is not that far from the Caymans. Got offshore entities muddled.

Nor am I "always mostly in the UK" as, so far, unsuccessful plaintiffs have discovered.

Incidentally, I have a mirror site on standby in a fourth jurisdiction. The URL itself is registered in a fifth jurisdiction after the Merrills / Northern Rock memorandum domain registrant based legal attack. I live and learn.

At the end of the day, you have to have the resources and be prepared to fight.

Re: Online narcissism

The article was about the relative futility of Twitter. My mate Prezza? Not sure he would agree. Some mistake surely. I'll leave the serious social commentary to you Sunny. You know me, Westminster soap-opera and tittle-tattle is more my bag.

Why have you written an article about this flim-flammery?

Re: Tories attack ‘community leaders’

Etonians are community leaders of a sort, they are certainly self-appointed heads of minority groups. Come, come now, you are always attacking them aren't you Sunny?

Re: David Lammy MP joins in

Miliband whinged over at my place a couple of years ago.

Re: LSE blogging event: The Fall and Fall of journalism

Or is it? My blog gets hits from Big Media and even Downing Street. Stories floated on the blog appear in the press.

Depends if you think the media matters.

Re: British blogs: mass medium or elite opinion-leading?

I get 2000 to 3000+ a day hits.

I'm not sure if thats high or low - the biggest hits come when a journo admits to getting the story from Guido's blog.

But the number of stories which get picked up and amplified is gratifying. My site-record reads like a list of media companies... but its starting to go two ways. Journalists are becoming a handy source.

Re: Sassygate: Can’t blogs do better?

Hmmm, very worthy. But its more fun and entertaining to do to the dead-tree-press what they do to others.

Plenty of left-wing bloggers have it in for the Sun and the Daily Mail. I doubt that those paper's senior execs care. But with the serious press bloggers can keep journalists honest, provide critical review, correct, nuance and analyse.

Right-wing bloggers will focus their ire inevitably on the Guardian and journalists with an agenda. 'Serious' journos are full of amour propre and to quote Dad's Army "they don't like it up 'em". But they will have to get used to it. That is a good thing for us all.

The truth is out there and it will be blogged (occasionally).

Re: Hussein’s hanging video and the ‘new media ethic’

Warn readers / viewers and let them decide.

That's what I did.

Re: Blogging vs journalism, yet again

Well said. The culture of newspapers is to pretend that they are the source of all knowledge. Which is untrue and less useful to readers. When I eventually gave a full RSS feed (after figuring out how to put ads in the RSS) my traffic went up. When I started listing stories of interest elsewhere my traffic went up.

Incidentally the piss-taking thieving by the Standard of a picture is a liberty too far, a few bitter diarists have contacted me to give solidarity.
