in Guido Fawkes: Thieving Parasitical Journalists on Martin Stabe
Something that you emphasise in your story links. The culture of newspapers is to pretend that they are the source of all knowledge. Which is untrue and less useful to readers. When I eventually gave a full RSS feed (after figuring out how to put ads in the RSS) my traffic went up. When I started listing stories of interest elsewhere my traffic went up.

Incidentally the piss-taking thieving by the Standard of a picture is a liberty too far, a few bitter diarists have contacted me to give solidarity.

Warn readers / viewers and let them decide.

That's what I did.

in Sassygate: Can’t blogs do better? on Martin Stabe
Hmmm, very worthy. But its more fun and entertaining to do to the dead-tree-press what they do to others.

Plenty of left-wing bloggers have it in for the Sun and the Daily Mail. I doubt that those paper's senior execs care. But with the serious press bloggers can keep journalists honest, provide critical review, correct, nuance and analyse.

Right-wing bloggers will focus their ire inevitably on the Guardian and journalists with an agenda. 'Serious' journos are full of amour propre and to quote Dad's Army "they don't like it up 'em". But they will have to get used to it. That is a good thing for us all.

The truth is out there and it will be blogged (occasionally).

in British blogs: mass medium or elite opinion-leading? on Martin Stabe
I get 2000 to 3000+ a day hits.

I'm not sure if thats high or low - the biggest hits come when a journo admits to getting the story from Guido's blog.

But the number of stories which get picked up and amplified is gratifying. My site-record reads like a list of media companies... but its starting to go two ways. Journalists are becoming a handy source.

Or is it? My blog gets hits from Big Media and even Downing Street. Stories floated on the blog appear in the press.

Depends if you think the media matters.
