I would also agree that reading and believing State Department Advisories is good counsel.

While in Guatemala several years back, reports of a police raid and shooting in the village where I was working hit the news in the US. The 'experts' went nutz describing the violent history of the area and how US Citizens should avoid the area. I don't recall that the incident even slowed the pace of normal commerce or conversation in the town.

Putting the shoe on the other foot, we would likely never have a foreign visitor in downtown Nashville if international media responded similarly to every shot fired here.

Re: Thrilling finish

This has the makings of a terrific rivalry...and will some day (as soon as Vandy can win one of these) *grin*.

Re: Missions, airlines and money

...and thanks to you for the support! Following an evening with a large group and what I considered exceptional service, I asked to speak with the manager. I let the manager know of the exceptional service and made sure he knew our server (they hear enough complaints...they deserve to hear better news when deserved). A week later when it was just the two of us, we were surprised at the end of our meal with a free desert compliments of the management...to say the least, I was impressed.

Re: Should Have Used His Inside Voice

Making comments based upon something one reads off a CafePress.com T-shirt may not be such a great idea, huh?! http://tinyurl.com/56oepn

Re: Titans Team Report (Yahoo! As a result of those observations and ensuing new connections, there are all sorts of energized conversations about the evolution of online journalism. As for me, this 'means' that my Media Studies' students will receive a heavy dose of Twitter and will begin making similar discoveries this coming semester.

Re: Newspaper industry woes deconstructed

This is likely/unlikely the most precise/ambiguous summary I have ever read.

Re: Twitter Founder Biz Stone’s Hilarious Colbert Interview (Video)

I do love my Twitter and I loved Stone's definition: "The messaging system we didn't know we needed until we had it."

Best one-liner from Colbert (asking about the first Tweet)..Was it, "What hath god twat?"

Re: tried to give blood

I commend you for making the effort to give blood... and encourage you to give more to the Red Cross than to the local mosquito population *grin*.
