This is article if full of some intellectual stuff. But I really think you'd be a happier person if you didn't analyze this stuff so much. Like you said, once you're in the real world, none of it matters. Just be content with the fact that you should be more successful than those on the other end of the bell curve

After reading this article and a number of the comments, ive gotta wonder- is the world as black and white as you make it out to be where people fit into perfectly stereotypical groups? Couldn't a very intelligent person also be popular and be recognized for their intelligence at the same time? i mean, it would make the world simpler if nerds could blame their lack of popularity on above average intelligence but im not sure this is completely true.

But who knows? Maybe it will come through. Corporate greed can destroy little businesses, but it can also bring life to previously deprived areas. I'm not saying a few Starbucks peppered around Baghdad will save the whole damn city, but bringing NGO's like Publix and McDonalds into the place will juice up the economy. Hopefully, the buildings will be left standing long enough for that income to take effect...

Hmmm... There is something called "Medical Calls" that firefighters always resond to... There is always at least one Paramedic on every Fire Engine with the rest of the crew being at least an E.M.T.

A Fire Engine always responds when someone is having a heart attack, a stroke, choking, difficulty breathing, baby not breathing, person not breathing, person not responsive, person confused, headaches, bleeding, cuts, broken bones, a car accident, a fall, a drug overdose, hand or body caught in heavy machinery, sporting accidents, heat related emergencies, behavioral problems, shooting victims, people involved in an assault, victims of elderly abuse, victims of child abuse, victims of sexual abuse, victims of domestic violence, drunk in public, a seizure, victims of electrocution, an allergic reaction, panic attacks, low blood prerssure, low blood sugar, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, dead body recovery, possible dead body, hanginings, suicide, respiratory arrest, cardiac arrest, people unconscious and unresponsive, decapitations, - you know that kind of stuff...

Oh yeah, they are also busy resonding to calls such as HazMat emergencies, baby locked in car, broken gas lines, broken water lines, fire alarms, smoke alarms, medical alarms, smoke checks, illegal burns, oil spills, gasoline spills. diesel spills, paint spills, transformer fires, vegetation fires, vehicle fires, structure fires, public service calls, small kitchen fires, fallen tress, fallen power lines, and the list goes on...

When the Fire Department is not responding to those calls at any given point of the day - they are training on how to do their jobs better, faster and safer. This benefits the community with an improved quality of servie and level of service to all.

Wow, a lot of jesus fanatics here. Don't be hatin on religion haters. I'm catholic but I can understand other people's views. Will i propogate them? Sure. People who can make fun of themselves (or their own religion) are the ones that are sure of themselves and religion. Those are the people who are truly in touch with their inner selves.

The Koreans have been fleecing the USFK for years at this. One big source is the KATUSA, who are paid 10$ a month, but the USFK are charged the rate of a Sgt.

Next the Koreans will be giving the USFK kimchi.

I think that drawing a comparison between ANYONE and Hitler is repugnant and wrong.

Do keep in mind this is a PUBLIC school and they likely had only two entries into the contest. So one got the Gold Key and one got the Silver Key.

So that means that it is very likely this Bush-Hitler "art" was in LAST place, and being a bunch of self-esteem raising liberals, the judges just HAD to award the Silver Key rather than say "sorry your work wasn't good enough".

In any case the real problem here is the twisted and demented thinking of the officials that made the award.
