I've been a long time lurker, but first time commenter. (Sounds like a radio show call in)

For me, having my data on the cloud is optimal. However, there are many valid security reasons why this can't happen to all industries. Personally, I wouldn't mind having my data flying through the air (pictures, music, documents, etc) but if I worked for a bank, I'd imagine that would never be allowed (at least within the next few years).

Security is a key driver of this initiative and eventually, we'll get to the point that this will happen for the business world. Is it in the foreseeable future? No, but certainly down the road.

It's going to happen for the consumer first.

Re: Social Media Press Release –What do you think?

I really like the template you have created. You can simply track this...

If you wanted to go crazy and create a custom dashboard for this, the guys over at VisualIQ(.com) would be able to do that and port any and all of the data and show it visually. If you didn't want something "custom", then you can get Tableau Software and look at it visually. Lots exist.

Note as well, you're looking at click based conversion. There is a whole other way to measure conversions in view-based, where the user doesn't click but within a specified window of time, they head to the site/page they saw marketed. Don't forget to count these...

Lastly, if you wanted to be extremely fancy, talk to the folks over at the Atlas Institute at MSFT, and setup Engagement Mapping as I'm sure you've got many marketing touch points.

Contact me offline for more. If a site does 100MM pageviews, that's great, but many advertisers will want to frequency cap after 7 or 13 impressions per unique.

So, I'd argue that you need to take unique users and multiply that against a frequency cap to get your monetizable impressions.

Re: Stupid twitter

So why'd you sign up?

Re: Forget advertising - is virtual goods the killer revenue model for Web 2.0?

A fairly timely blog posting... :)

Re: Hanging out at the Virtual Goods Summit tomorrow…

I've heard nothing but amazing things - is a report on the way?

Re: What every Web 2.0 entrepreneur should know about virtual goods

Andrew, this is a fantastic recap. Your posts are fantastic.

I don't think that old media is going to die, but the model has to be fluid/dynamic and will change with time. Traditional distribution (a.k.a old disney) can dominate because of the value chain. I'm interested to see how the value chain evolves as digital permeates all media channels including tv, radio, ooh, print, etc. Just look at video games.
