It's hard believe we had to wait until SW 2007 to be able to do this easily.

Re: My Hatch Pattern Smells of Rich Mahogany

Nice Josh. I've installed it already. Wouldn't it be great if your CAD tools came with the hatches you really need.

Re: My Baby Needs a Dell XPS

Personally I would have gone with Brooke Burke. She could pull all kinds of things out of my pockets. Wait, did I really say that :)

Re: SolidWorks Mystery Tip: PhotoWorks DOF!

You should be able to use indirect illumination and DOF together without issue. I agree with Kyle, "Indirect illumination is one of the most important aspects of a good rendering, so make the rendering as good as possible without depth of field, then add it later (I think you can use photoshop)."

I do sometimes have issues with DOF settings in PhotoWorks.

Re: Ben Eadie Hits Revision3 with $30 3D Laser Scanner, Plugs SolidWorks

Yes. Very informative and well written. I don't use this functionality in my daily work but after reading this review I want to go play with it. Nice job.

Re: SolidWorks 2007: Drawing Blocks

I agree Ricky. When sketch blocks were introduced in 2006 I couldn't understand why they weren't incorporated into drawing functionality as well. SolidWorks has closed this hole in 2007 and it will be very helpful for us also.

Re: SolidWorks 2007: SolidWorks Explorer

I'll be there Devon.

Re: Your Favorite SolidWorks World Story

Put me in the "geek club" too because I can also conjure up my SW serial number in about two seconds.

One of my favorite things about SWW is just meeting and talking with the people. The SolidWorks blogging community is "moving on up". While I'll be beta testing SW 2008 along with everyone else, I look forward to your 2008 posts when the time is right. I always like to hear other peoples thoughts on a subject.

Re: Only 3 Days Left to Submit Your Mach 4 Rendering!

This months prize is a highly sought after and hard to obtain SolidWorks back pack which fits a 17" laptop nicely. :)

Re: Welcome to CADFanatic!

Hi Brian,

Nice to have you aboard the blogging bus. It took a long time for cameras to be included with SolidWorks. I now wonder how we lived without them. Looks like your making good use of the PhotoWorks Guide. :)

Re: M90 - The last installment…maybe

Hi Jeff,
I've heard of this issue many times over tha last couple of weeks at a few different newsgroups on different machines. This would lead me to believe your problem may be more attributale to software than hardware?

Re: What the heck was I thinking?

I'm no expert Jeff but I would say keeping the audience interested is important. Don't be afraid to admit you don't know something about the software or can't answer a question. Be calm and cool and a few jokes never hurt. I know you can pull off the joke part :) Don't talk about baseball.

Re: ATI FirePro V5700

Hi Jeff,
Yeah it's funny we had such a different experience? PhotoWorks rendering worked fine for me and I even played with PV360 a bit without issue. Nether PW or PV360 are really GPU dependant so the graphics card should have minimal impact on rendering. It would be interesting to see if your saved render had the same issues as the screen render. RealView is GPU dependant and even though I use it very little I did keep it turned on while using the ATI card. Colors, textures, shadowing. reflections in RV all worked OK.

I did look at the ATI control panel but didn't change any of the settings. I wanted to run it "out of the box" and see how it worked.
