in Caught in Apple restart hell on Scobleizer
I installed the 10.5.1 updated on my macbook pro, and every time it restarted, it showed me the new mac registration screen, no matter what I did.

All I can say is thank god for Archive & Install, because time machine effed up my backup

in Google hiring funniness on Scobleizer
Well Scoble, maybe it's time you join the club and add a 'Jobs' board, or refer people to the 37signals board.

I'd have to say CyberDuck > Transmit, and for torrents, nothing beats transmission.

osx.iusethis.com is a great resource as well.

Aaron,

wanted to say congrats... looks awsome :)

There is however a weird "checkbox" appearing on the right side, in one of the adverts...

Check it out: http://dropbox.aplosmedia.com/techno-checkbox.png

in Can A Web Programmer Make a Living Programming? on Technosailor
I fall under the consulting portion.

When providing a server or even a downloadable app, the hard part is all the "extras" you have to account for.

So, now you need to provide support, trouble shoot issues, fix bug reports, prepare and roll releases, handle sales, specials, coupons. Don't forget about PR and advertising / marketing.

When you look at it, unless you have some money to get started when your providing a script or server, your up shits crick. Your going to have to handle all the above yourself which is by far no easy task. Unless you can afford to employe some people to help you with this, your going to feel like your drowning under your own work load - something that is not very fun.

So, my opinion is that it isn't worth it for him. Aaron, your exactly right that the money in is consulting.

in Profanity or Not? HELP!!!!! on Technosailor
erm... we argue over words too....

I normally consider the following ok:

bitch
ass
shit
damn
hell

Fine.... not sure if these are borderlines or not... but then again, look at it another way ;)

bitch is a female dog, ass is a body part, shit is a by-product of food intake, damn.. well, not sure, and hell is a place ;)

So, all are good by me ;) Then again, im much more "profane" that you seem to be.... Not sure how it happened, guess I picked i tup working outside for a paving company full time for several years ;)

in Paint Job on Technosailor
Aaron,

The screen shot I took is 800x600 (well, 1610 because of the length of your page), and it looks fine to me.

Oh,

And sorry for another post, but maybe you should make the "Posting your comment... " text stand out just a little bit more ;) maybe add some rotating image or something... it kinda blends into "Leave a comment.." and I was like, wtf, why isn't my comment posting ;)

I'm looking at it in Safari right now, and it looks alright to me...

The "Where Aaron Can Be Found" is a little wird.... not sure what it is but the links sink together a little to much.. Maybe something like

That Damn PC
(tab/space) -> Renaming the Recycle bin

ProBlogger Blog Tips
(tab/space) -> Humanity Still Trumps

Actually...

To be honest, I think something changed.

I've noticed if I use phpmyadmin on my local box (no contorl panel thankyou) and do an export, and change compat. mode to ANYTHING, i get auto_inc. stripped and default set to 0

Try it out ;)

in Giants over Saints- An advantage? on Technosailor
Well, im a pittsburgh fan, have been for a long time, and I can say, that if palmer and henry werent hurt in the first 4 or so plays of the game, pittsburgh would not have won.

But, anyways, they did win. Go pittsburgh. I feel bad for palmer, but whatever.

Pittsburgh vs. Colts... I think pittsburgh's going to pull it off, face NE again, and then loose... same as last year.

Aaron,

I have remote backup attached to the server you could use... I told you that weeks ago, and you said "not till I clean up all my crap"

I guess you just cleaned up :P
