in From Microsoft: C# and CLI under the Community Promise - Miguel de Icaza on Miguel de Icaza's blog
Of course, that "everyone who made this possible" does include the likes of Richard Stallman. IMO, this is more of a victory for open source than of Miguel de Icaza.

Carlos Richard Stallman, you say? Richard Stallman, the one that until last week hadn't said anything? Dude, Miguel de Icaza made this possible, since he was the one moving to get this promise possible. He approached MS and asked for that, and it wasn't a week ago, you know?

Victory of Richard Stallman? I can't see where. Specially when the Mono team has been working so hard to accomplish this beautiful platform, and in the same time, getting this promise, and I can only see a victory for Miguel.

Dude, really, as someone already said: stop thinking about such stuff, and get done some real stuff.

I don't know what needs to be updated here. Could you be a bit more specific?

"There's no learning"? From a business point of view, there is. You found a way to increase revenues with little effort. That trick is worth remembering.

Jesse Farmer My point was that you didn't learn anything about your customers that can be applied in a different tactical situation. You don't know anything about their motivations, their interests, or their state of mind.

So, although you get one result (increased revenue) you also lose something of value (verifiable knowledge about your customers). There's a tradeoff there, and perhaps you're willing to make it.

in Does Apple Have A Blind Spot About Flash? on A VC
"And I believe Apple doesn't share in Adobe and Nokia's vision of an open and consistent experience for web browsing and mobile apps."

That could just as well be phrased the other way around. "Adobe does not share Apple's vision of an open and consistent experience using HTML and CSS."

in Is google chrome under / partially reporting RAM usage ? on /var/log/mind
Task Manager counts shared memory in each process. I would guess that Google does not. If you want more detailed info on memory usage, download a tool "vadump.exe" from microsoft.com

in Anonymous Pride Parade on Angry Summer, Quiet Fall
After 38 years what that woman did wasn't mourning, it was masturbation, and it's not Anon's (or anyone's) responsibility to help her with it. By the same token, playing music anywhere at any time would be tasteless.
The protests may be as much about celebrating anon culture as it is about actually raising awareness (same as pride parades), but that doesn't make them meaningless or less important.
