I can't believe this! I never watched the show (so I really didn't help the cause, I suppose) but canceling a show without resolving the story is just a bastard move. The least they could do is at least give the producers a chance to film a quick ending, to finish telling their stories somehow.

Very surprising to me. 4 of those shows I watch regularly. I haven't seen any Doctor Who, and the only one I agree that's overrated is Firefly--just couldn't get into it.

Lost and BSG, however, is kind of a slap in the face! Those are two of the most smartest shows on television right now. I'm surprised because sci-fi fans usually appreciate that.

I can't believe that! Was it actually *hosted* on your site? I assume so, but even then, what idiots. I can see them asking you to take it down if you had parodied it or otherwise changed some aspect of the video, but just having the video up is going to get people's attention on the movie and generate a buzz. What absolute morons. Then again, they clearly have no idea how the internet works, as the AMPTP keeps telling the WGA "the internet is too new to figure out!"

Which is why the studio go after YouTube itself in those cases, and not just those that simply link to the video. As far as I can tell, Mike just copied and pasted embed code. If they want the video down, they should go after those hosting it. For that reason alone, they are morons.

I kind of think it's a hoax, to be honest. Just someone out there trying to see how much he can get away with.

I enjoyed his movies right up until Lady in the Water. The Village was controversial, but I thought it was nicely done, a story about the lengths parents will go to protect their children, even doing something as insane as tricking them into thinking they're living 100 years in the past. Lady in the Water just made no sense to me, and I remember reading articles about how the producers were trying to tell him that. I don't know how it was made, but I think it knocked his ego back a little bit, so maybe The Happening will be a return to great storytelling.

It's funny that people are canceling their Netflix subscriptions over the decision... they'll just be screwing themselves out of DVDs! It's not like there is an alternative at this point, it looks like the format war has been won. I'm surprised that anybody really made a leap before it was decided... the equipment at this point is so expensive, anyway.

Y: The Last Man is definately the book I'd recommend to anyone looking to get into comics, in fact, I have! It's also the book that got me into them. I heard about it after an article I read mentioned Brian K. Vaughan and his connection to Lost. The storytelling in Y kind of reminds me of Lost, in some parts, at least... the cliffhangers, do. If you get the second Volume, do not... under any circumstances... flip to the back of the book first!! ;)

Y just finished it's run this past month, with the last volume due out in June... I'm on Volume 8 myself (I'm pacing myself).

Trade paperback collections are a great way to get into comics... I started reading a lot of stories from the beginning via trades, and then went to my local comic shop and signed up for the titles that might interest me. Usually the mainstream titles will have stories that span 4-6 issues, and generally it's easy to pick up a title at the start of a new story.

Anyway, that's a long comment! I feel like a crazy comic guy. Hope it helps!

I read somewhere that the Sarah Connor Chronicles takes place in an alternate universe where T3 never happened. I'm guessing that T4 will indeed acknowledge T3, so I'm thinking they're going the "alternate universe" route, in that the Sarah Connor Chronicles takes place right alongside T4 in a parallel world unrelated to each other. Which is a cop out! Kind of like how they couldn't just wait until after Smallville to do a Superman movie. We really just need one continuity to follow. I wish they'd just let one thing happen at a time to avoid confusion but it's all about money I suppose! :)

Tough question, but: who's your fave? They are all brilliant characters but I love Roslin the most. She's so gentle and soft spoken but is very charismatic and strong. She never has to lead by raising her voice (though she's not afraid to). I love how she was shaking when she took the oath of office in season 1.

I love Will Ferrell, but feel like he really needs to graduate from these types of movies. Without knowing anything about it, I can predict he's an out-of-place, obnoxious character who at one point strips either naked or down to his tighty whities.

I guess the reason I, personally, have no interest in seeing it is because I feel like I already have. I want something new! :) I think Stranger than Fiction is probably my favorite Will Ferrell movie.

If I recall correctly, there were supposed to be 4 more episodes (a 13 episode season) filmed, but due to the strike Fox wanted to make episode 9 the finale. I think. I could be way wrong but I think that's what I heard. Anyway, it might explain how a lot of people don't think it feels like a true season ender.

I really, really hope this show gets picked up for Season 2. I am surprised at how much I like it.

Yes! I ordered mine and got the email over the weekend, though the shipping delivery estimate is not until the 21st!! It's happened a few times when I've ordered something on Amazon and would have been better off just going to the store and picking it up. I did this for Lost, Season 2, and it actually got lost in the mail! Hopefully that doesn't happen this time. Definitely looking forward to watching the liberation of New Caprica in DVD-quality.

Until money goes away, things like this will continue to happen. The music industry is finally realizing it's a hopeless battle, and are starting to go DRM-free, so it's only a matter of time before Hollywood does, too, IMO.

Not skipping over commercials, I can definately see, though. I completely understand that, because it's the commercials that pay the bills for a lot of shows. Anything else, like restricting the time you can watch a TV shows, seems ridiculous. Though I must say, the restriction on PPV movies doesn't seem out of line to me -- no different than the late fee at a lot of rental places, most of which "new releases" are only available for a day or two as well.

Smallville is a show that's kind of been dragged out way too long. They've said on a number of occasions that Lex "will be pushed over to the dark side," this is something like the 3rd time they've said it. I still watch out of habit, but the show itself has gotten almost cringe-worthy at points, which is sad. :( My opinion, of course.

I just had this thought after I read you say "new world of serialized television." I remember back when movies were good and not just means of setting up potential franchises. In other words, they wrote movies to be good. Now, it seems they are more likely to create TV shows with finite plans (4-5 years) just for the sake of being good. If thats the case, we are on the cusp of a golden age of television.

Yeah, I don't get it. In the end it's all about what someone thought would make the most money, but not having things like "Klatuu Barada Nikto" is just dumb. That's iconic of the original. It's like remaking the classic Star Trek and renaming the ship something other than the Enterprise.

My boss still uses his PS2 as his DVD player! He bought it when DVDs became the norm.

I plan to get a PS3 with my tax rebate, with full awareness that I'm unlikely to get any games for a long while since I have a 360. But, 5 years down the line, who knows? The PS3 will still cost the same (more or less) and hold it's value (more or less), but if you buy a stand alone Blu-Ray Player, in 5 years they're probably going to be worth $50.

My opinion, anyway.

I don't watch the show, but my girlfriend had it on and I watched some of it. I got tired of Andrew Lloyd Weber saying "it was clear this person didn't know ANYTHING about the song." May be true, but he said it for each one.

A modest increase is fine by me as long as it means them improving their inventory. If it's raised a dollar or more and people still have to wait really long times for Blu-ray discs, I'll probably seek some other method of getting them.

And I agree, I think a lot of times people (myself included) get too caught up in the overall story and mystery and neglect paying attention to the characters, which is ultimately the most rewarding. It was definately one of the best character stories in the series.

Really, I'd have to go back and watch that particular episode, but I remember thinking he knew it would be Penny. Naomi even had the picture of Penny and Desmond. I remember thinking that when they flipped open her helmet and it was revealed to be *not* Penny, that it must be because something in the time line changed.

But as always, I may be way off. Like I said, I'd have to re-watch that one.

Nina!!! Good catch about the house, I didn't realize it was the same one. And also thats a good point about Hurley's friend being a vision, too. Its entirely possible.

What Im wondering about now is the "Hurley Bird." Remember that?? It has nothing to do with what were talking about, but in the first two season finales there was a green bird that flew over Hurley's head and yelled his name. I want to know the significance to that, or if its just another one of his visions! And maybe they aren't visions at all, but rather some kind of psychic phenomenon that gets labeled as "crazy" in the outside world but "special" on the island.

Yeah, I definitely think Jack knows that Aaron is his nephew, and I totally get why he would feel guilty about being around him... it might be a constant reminder of who they left behind. Though, it did seem clear that Sawyer, at least, stayed voluntarily.

I like the free roam gritty atmosphere of the game. I was a fan of GTA3 and purchased GTA4 for my Xbox last week. It gets a bad rap for the violence, sex, etc., and I agree that those things are best left out of children's hands, but a lot of the positive aspects of the games get overlooked. For example, a lot of the city itself, specifically the in-game radio stations and TV are full of witty satirical versions of commercials and talk radio that make you think about the real world. And the free roam atmosphere means you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. It's kind of like my other favorite games in a way, the Sim series, because there really isn't much of an "ending" in the classical sense of a video game.

I'm going to pick this up myself, soon. I had never heard about it before you said something about it. I'm liking Mark Millar's stuff so far. He has a new monthly series that is only on issue #2 at this point, it is called "Kick Ass" about a kid who decides to become a superhero and, well... gets his ass kicked.

I met Al Gore once in a restaurant in Dearborn, MI. I'd have to dig up a picture as that was before things went digital. I've also met Connor Trinnear and Dominic Keating from Star Trek Enterprise, but those only famous to those watching Enterprise. Along the same lines is The Doctor from Star Trek: Voyager. Those three I met at a convention, so I'm not sure it counts because I technically paid to see them. :)

The next volume in the series is a lot better in my opinion, then it sort of falls flat for a while. It was around the time Jeph Loeb's son died so it's understandable. I haven't picked it up in a while, though the series has gone through a few different creative teams.

I've always thought it would be great to get Tom Welling to make the transition to Superman. I thought they should have waited for Smallville to end before making Superman Returns. I think Tom Welling has a great screen presence and with a little tweaking, he could totally command the attention and respect of everyone around him.

Recall that we've seen Walt speaking in seemingly gibberish but played backward actually says "Don't push the button... the button is bad." Also the tape in the orchid rewound itself... kinda... backward, I guess. I wonder if there is any meaning to things being reversed from the way they should be.

Me, too. I'm thinking the same thing... that the Others (Ben's people) are descendants of the civilization that lived on the island for a looong time. Dharma somehow found the island and started building hatches. I think the Vault was built by Dharma in the 70s or whenever they showed up... but maybe they are the ones who found the cavern of exotic matter and kept it on ice. But then why would Jacob want them to move the island using that method.... ahhh who is Jacob...?!? This is such an intricate story.
