in "If being left handed is wrong, I don't want to be right" on Everything Random
I'm left-handed, but I tend to forget that I am until someone mentions it or I have to use something that's meant specifically for right-handed people. All of my family is right-handed except for my uncle.
However I do a lot of things right-handed, including throwing and playing guitar. I really developed a strong mix of both hands.

in Contest: LogoBids Offers $100 For Best Wal-Mart Logo on How To Split An Atom
I think a lot of the effort with this logo is to make it seem less like a massive corporation and more like a friendly group of people.
The all-capital letters implies some kind of dominance, like our shadowy overlords watching over and controlling us. Using lower-case letters implies a more friendly atmosphere. The font is now nice and friendly rather than big and powerful, and the light blue helps that out. I think the point of this is that it might help improve the public's opinion of Wal mart as some power-hungry corporation.
But I do agree with you, it does seem overly simple, and not too much that'll really stick. The star is such a basic shape that it will take a LOT of branding to tie that to Wal Mart.

That's an interesting analysis. The new logo definitely does not look like the brand of an overlord. Unless those overlords were teletubbies ;)

That sounds pretty true to me. The three work together very well, and I'm fond of the direction the Internet is taking.

A great process that's helped me convert a lot of my DVDs into a more useful format. I've always been a bit intimidated by ripping them, but this straightforward guide makes it easy.
