in Book of Blood Red Band Trailer: Clive Barker Can’t Catch A Break on /Film

I saw this film a few months ago, and it was terrible. Midnight Meat Train was mediocre at best and a bit of a wasted opportunity, but this film was just bad. Cheesy dialogue, messy and amateurish "scares", and a handful of characters you could care less about. The plot was very wandering and the entire film felt like it had little direction.

in Don Murphy Takes Option on Cory Doctorow’s Little Brother, Lines Up More Good Stuff on /Film

"Little Brother" was the equivalent of Cory Doctorow ejaculating onto paper. Not only is his main character the most perfect Mary-Sue-hipster of all time (the quintessential avatar of everything Doctorow wish he could be), but the book was about as subtle as a rectal examination or a hammer to the face.

I picked up the book after his issestent plugging over at BoingBoing and threw it down about 3/4 of the way through. What insulting and pandering tripe. It has alot of good ideas, but Doctorow is simply a poor writer.
