in San Francisco Protest March Against Prop. 8 on Laughing Squid
Does everyone realize that there were only about 300,000 Mormon voters who may have voted for Prop 8 (the number could have been lower since the total Mormon population in CA is only 700,000 and their activation rate is about 40%). There were millions of others who voted for this bill.

based on false information funded by the mormons. many of these people were uneducated, too.

But think about it, why would I use Office products or docs on LinkedIn, when i can easily go to the respective sites and utilize the full browser.
These apps are great but it will slowly lose its steam similar to Facebook. Based on Jeremiah Owyang's post, it looks like LinkedIn will slowly focus less on front end networking and move towards enterprise networking. It has been evident based on the lack of attention users have been getting on LinkedIn's basic networking features, especially with all the errors and issues that have lasted for more than 2 months now. It is a perfect opportunity for another networking site to fill that gap.

I am sorry, I was there and it was really messed up. I would have fired Sarah, if I was her boss. It looked like she was not well prepared and half way through, she started marketing her book. I mean, cmon, people paid a lot of money to be there and when you have Zuckerberg, I think she could have at least asked some professional questions instead of talking about how he was sweating when she was talking to him for the first time. I thought Zuckerberg did pretty well. I mean, some of the questions Sarah was asking were confidential financial questions and mostly were plain "stupid". Here is an example - Do you think Microsoft is happy with the ad deal? I mean, why ask Zuckerberg? what did she expect him to say - No? They are unhappy? That question should be directed to Microsoft and not Zuckerberg.
And what's up with her saying "I interviewed Michael Arrington and poured water on him?
She was not direct in her questions, which made it difficult for Zuckerberg to answer her questions directly. There were a number of times, even I did not know what she was asking and eventually prompted Zuckerberg to confront her " You have to ask questions". That was the best moment of the whole 45 minutes. I felt the last 4-5 minutes was the best part of the keynote where audience started asking direct questions. Sarah could have covered a lot of question but instead tried to be really "cool" or didn't know what she was doing. But one thing i know, at the end, the crowd was relieved that Sarah stopped talking and allowed the audience to ask questions. Begs the question, why the heck Sarah was there and will she still have a day job. I mean, this is like Ashley Simpson at SNL.

This is what happens when VC's invest on the people and not the concept. Jobster's business model has been changed 3 times now. And it begs the questions, what the hell did they do with the $41 million? Did they spend at least half of that on marketing? Last year Jason Goldberg was everywhere like a superstar.
VC will be stupid to invest on this company. Their concept is flawed and through experience, one the founding CEO or founders leave the company, that is the sign - Run and never look back. Take back that $7 million and invest on another start up, heck two other startups. And this time at least, pay attention more on the concept and not the people.

Hedge fund or any investor on this matter will look really stupid to invest on Facebook at this time. The sound thing to do is wait until Feb next year and see how the Open Social pans out and then make an investment on the top social site. By that time, Facebook membership who knows FB membership may decline.
I say Facebook may decline because, 7 of my friends have ready left facebook simply due to their FB's greed and spam/clutter. I am sure each of us know people who were turned of by their greed as evident last week.

Nate...exactly what i was thinking..
Regarding cookie ads. cookie ads will die faster than pop up ads..how long will it take for browsers (except ie, of course) or third party internet security companies to create cookie blockers ..ad cookie blockers to make it worst. I am sure some anti virus/internet security companies are already deploying one.
Regarding data on FB, data on fb is very vague
Another PR stunt to hype Facebook valuation.

This is when we know that LinkedIn is desperate and out of ideas. I mean..what the heck have they been doing all this time, when all other networking sites are taking away their potential users...creating LinkedIn store? Are they serious about competing? Well, time is ticking for LinkedIn. Too Bad.

Yes...finally..we have enough application to compete with MySpace's Top Crappy Profile. "1. Growth to 200 million active users
2. Powering 18 to 36 billion web searchs in 2008 and 2009 which will generate $2 and $4 billion in Cost Per Click Keyword-driven (i.e., Google-style Text Link) ads
3. Offering a Facebook Mall with 1,000 top merchants each paying $1 million per year in base rent plus 5% of Gross Sales in Overage Rent"
Hahaha...that is really funny...right now..does anyone know how many total users Facebook has? 50 million or less? and how many of those are active? and how many of the active users are clicking on ads?
Ads...on facebook are not generating significant revenue. If they did, they will definately brag about it. Currently they are not even releasing their CTR, which is comical hearing people saying Facebook will take down Google.
People go to Facebook not to search or look for businesses. People go to Facebook to socialize. So naturally you are not going to generate a lot of CTR. To make things worst, the younger computer savvy crowd have trained their eyes to automatically ignore ads on websites. How many times any of you have clicked on an ad on facebook? Zero to less than 3? Facebook is a hype carefully crafted by investors who are trying to take advantage of gullible people. It will not last that long.

There is one thing that will burst the bubble. Facebook.
Facebook's outrageous valuation (especially for a company without a revenue model) will totally crash the market when people get tired of it or when traffic drops for facebooks just like MySpace or when people start to realise that it does not live up to its hype. It is sad as it will effect a lot of other companies and startups who may have a better revenue model compared to FB.
The only thing that might solve this is a complete buy out of FB as it will totally reduce the hype and save the industry. Just like YouTube. Notice that after the acquisation of You Tube, there have been less coverage and hype of YouTube. That is what needs to happen to FB to save the industry.

I don't think merely buying Facebook will prevent the bubble that seems increasingly likely, it will merely feed it.
Yes there has been less coverage and hype about YouTube since it was bought, but the hasn't gone away, merely moved onto other topics, i.e., facebook. The web 2.0 bubble is going to keep going for a while yet, and if Facebook is bought for an outrageous sum it can only feed it more.

in Facebook Takes A Shot at LinkedIn on AllFacebook
it shows up on mine too. But it seems somewhat pointless becuase when you click on it, it displays everyone within your network only. So basically we are restricted to networking within our network. If my network is in Kansas, i can't network with people out of Kansas which defeats the whole purpose of online networking.

in Facebook Takes A Shot at LinkedIn on AllFacebook
I think it is a wrong move by Facebook. But FB is doing it just so to become the WALMART of social networking. In another words, they want be everything and anything on the website. The problem is, are they now going to allow you to contact anyone you dont know? Becuase that was the difference between FB and Myspace and if they allow that, that takes away one of the best thing about fb. Yes you can say, only those who select Networking will have their account opened but eventually everyone is going is select that.
Also I still want facebook for social only. I want to go to specific site that focuses on professional networking where i am surrounded by professional individual and recruiters. Facebook is not setup for that. It is like buying suits at a clothing store as opposed to a suit store. I am not saying Linkedin is a suit store, they are horrible. But as a student, I will trust and prefer to go to a site that is solely dedicated to professional networking only.

Well here is a test, check your network activity and see if you notice the difference. I do. A month ago, there was a lot of activity on Facebook with all my friends. Everyone was excited about finding each other, now that we are caught up, what is the use of Facebook. I can email my long lost friends directly. I am not checking my facebook as often anymore. Also i am not getting as much activity from my friends either.

in Facebook’s Killer Feature Coming Soon on AllFacebook
The main point is, will this new feature attract recruiters, hiring managers or even general business crowd to Facebook. Currently Facebook is gettting too cluttered. They are trying to do everything. Don't believe me. Try searching for "Microsoft" on the search tool. You will get hundreds of entries..no specifics. Facebook was setup to connect with friends. They should keep it that way. No matter what, they cannot compete with Linkedin and NetHooks. These sites are catered specifically for professional contact. All parties coming into the site know what they are getting into which is professional networking.
For students in facebook, very high percentage will not use the tool to separate business contacts.. most of them will use to separate their friends into different categories.
