I have to admit that using YouTube will makes the video(s) available to a greater audience (and save space) - but it also raises the chances that people who just don't like what they see will fight to have it removed. (Michelle Malkin's issues with YouTube @ hotair.com provide some background on that.)
An alternative to MS Movie Maker could be the MGI VideoWave program series... sure - it's 'bundleware', but it does allow you to save your video in just about every filetype with the 'everyday' program features. Not the greatest program, but it does the basics at low-cost.
