believed that the patient was an impoverished Bedouin and that the doctor didn't know if he would be compensated.

Baloney! I worked at St. Vincents in the late 80s, early 90s and participated in the care of some of the renal txplt patients. There were many Saudi patients who were living for months to years in nearby apartments, at the expense of the Saudi government, while awaiting their transplants. It was common knowledge that the Saudi gov't had deep pockets and was footing the bills.

Can't read the link re: medical care as do not subscribe to WSJ, but can tell you that my colleagues' father is very lucky. He had faxed copies of his medical records pertaining to his SCC of the lung to his son in CA (a nuclear medicine tech) so that his son could review them and see what the treatment plan was. (Included CT scan, path and skeletal imaging - the tech reveiwed them with me). This was about 2 weeks before the hurricane. The father evacuated from New Orleans to Alabama. Luckily for him he had faxed those records - his son faxed copies to the new docs and his father was able to resume XRT without much delay.
I'm very happy that I got copies of my father's recent CABG surgery done in Alabama - have the op reports, CD of the angiogram and a tape of his ECHO. Forutnately he did not have to evacuate, but his post op wound check appt was cancelled due to the hurricane.
Perhaps a lesson to us all to get copies of our medical records and keep them in a secure place.

Ha ha ha. Many on sildenafil are so focused on getting an erection and would not care if you told them that it might cause blindness. I have had several patients ask me to discontinue their nitrates (including ISDN) so that they could get sildenafil. I work in the VA system where there is scrutiny of all rx'd meds; you can't prescribe sildenafil to someone on nitrates.
