in Are social networks really killing us… on TheWayoftheWeb
Hard to tell without seeing the paper, isn't it, what the actual arguments are?

One further point I would make to your excellent analysis of what you been able piece together of Sigman's arguments, is this comes down to thinking about online/offline differently.

As the web becomes more ubiquitous and especially mobile, we'll stop thinking about online and offline as different places.

As it is, I agree: the social web augments, enhances, boosts my quality of life, rather than detracting from it.

Congratulations, Martin - sounds like a great gig. Good opportunity to say this blog remains high on my reading list, as your work has done for many years - it's my journalism radar, if that doesn't sound too terrible.

They've done this before tactically. When the new series of Gavin & Stacey was about to run you were able to watch the whole of series one on iPlayer.

It was also the number 2 most searched for definition on Google.com - if you're minded to take the 2006 Zeitgeist at face value.

That's a brilliant factoid - and one which i'll no doubt be reeling off at social occasions for some time to come.
