Just got back into blogging myself. First heard of WPTouch at Wordcamp at The Network Hub, but it's since slipped my mind. Installing it right now. Thanks for the post, and thanks to Duane for developing!

And it's definitely slipped ... I gave them a call today, and the extension is - poof- gone.

C'est la vie - at least there's WiFi.

in Is Scrabulous Going Bye Bye? on AllFacebook
"I think Hasbro is faced with two bad choices - shutting Scrabulous down, or buying it. Both are likely to have negative impacts on their bottom line - they would have been much better off had Scrabulous never existed."

I disagree on this point. An acquisition would not necessarily result in a hit to their bottom line - at least not in the long term. Scrabulous would definitely be a valuable asset.

From the response shown even here in this post, it's no secret it's popular. Hasbro could feed branding and propoganda to 569,206 users every single day (provided Scabulous' users use it everyday). These are hardcore loyal fans of the game. Why throw that away?

Money can always be moved around. They can justify a buyout as a marketing expense.

Hi Kristen:

Thank you for writing on Mixx (formally, Mixx Maker)! We're very excited to see this go forward.

The whole upload thing is a big topic for us. Yes, it costs a whole lot to host all the files, but we do it for two main reasons:

1) Legal issues. We can't give music away for free, so you have to use your own.

2) Experience issues. How frustrating would it be if you had the perfect song for a Mixx, but it wasn't in the library? Frankly, I'd be pretty choked.

The whole idea behind locking Mixxs down to your network of friends is a legal issue as well. Playing music for people you know is similar to playing music for people riding in your car. (Another example would be iTunes, and how it shares the libraries of anyone using the same network). Anything beyond that, is broadcasting, and then it's not within fair use.

Hope that clears things up for your readers!

Kind regards,

Jeremy, from the Opus Team
